He actually was a doctor who was trying to cure a little girl's blindness when he was imprisoned for being Christian. He would send her letters while he was in prison and sign them "from your Valentine." Pretty cute if you ask me :D

The holiday is about how Saint Valentine defied the KING for the ones he loved and how everyone should feel this way toward the one they love.
