Yeah you drunkenly throw up on their doorstep once, they remember it forever.

It's worse when it's something you can't or won't change. Like, my friend's parents don't like me because I'm Hindu.

When I was 11 I had a friend whose mother thought I was kind of obnoxious and weird - which to be fair, I was - but then she carried those judgements with her all the time my friend and I were in high school, and even though I'd grown up a lot by that point and had more people skills, she still saw me the same way.

And it sucks when your parents dislike your friend for one little thing.

The family two houses down spent my entire childhood encouraging me to play with their daughter because she "needed my responsible influence." Then I got a service dog for the condition they knew I'd had all my life, (one of the things they liked about me was how careful I was about keeping track of my medication and making sure it stayed the right temperature) and suddenly they didn't want anything to do with me because I was "searching out attention and sympathy." Assholes.

My friends parents hate me because of my diet. (Not an unhealthy one either.)
