+300 It pisses you off when an athlete holds out and refuses to practice because the team offered ONLY $40 million or something, amirite?

Thats when you know he is only playing for money and not for the love of the sport

Thats bs. Of course they love the game. The amount of work it takes to become a pro athlete worth 40 mil a year is almost unimaginable. And sometimes players are underpaid and deserve more. Of course, people like Chris Johnson are pretty ridiculous.

Loving the game would be playing it even though your underpaid...refusing to play becuase your only getting 40mil is doing it for the money

When an athlete holds out they almost NEVER miss a game that counts. Most of the guys that hold out miss preseason, something 40 million dollar players don't need as much as others

It doesn't matter if they don't miss out on a game that counts they still refused to get better or at least help the team get better and they know that if they missed a game that counts they wouldn't be paid at all

It doesn't really make me that upset. A lot of times, teams won't do the right thing and pay a guy who is playing at a higher level than his contract indicates. Think about it, an NFL running back has an average career span of four yours. That usually plays out to only two contracts for the guys entire career. If you only had that short of a window, you would do everything you could to ensure that you made enough money.

Or that they love the team they're on, then switch to the team that everybody hates because they have the biggest market, therefore getting paid even more.

Anyone else think of Mike Wallace?

Their paycheck is relative. If you were paid $20 an hour for X years, then they decided to change it to $15, would you still be happy?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

YES! This gets me so mad. If you're getting paid $40 million, do you really need another $5 million? Seriously, you shouldn't even be getting paid that much.
