People always are complaining about people who are into rock and metal. But at least we're devoted to our music, and not just listening to it because "it's what everyone else is listening to". amirite?

I have to disagree, because I thought of hipsters. They don't listen to rock because they're devoted to it, they listen to it because they think it makes them original. And, I've never heard anyone complain about other people liking rock or metal, which is pretty much the basis of this post, so yet again, I have to disagree.

But not all of the people who listen to rock and metal are hipsters. They like it because the music actually appeals to them. That being said, there are some hipsters who listen to it to be different. Also, there are people who are devoted to other kinds of music whatever it may be.

Yeah, this might just be because I ignore other people's opinions a lot, but I'm certain I've never heard anyone complain about rock or metal, let alone me liking it. Tell you what I have heard though, people who like rock and metal complaining about people who don't, a lot.

I listen to rock and metal because I love the lyrics... Despite popular belief, rock and metal has some of the most beautiful and meaningful lyrics. And the instruments and the voices together is amazing. I don't listen to it to be a hipster.

I've never heard anyone complain about rock or metal, but both are becoming pretty mainstream now. My friends who used to like Taylor Swift are now all into System of a Down and a bunch of other rock and metal bands. If I say I like some pop music, I have to defend myself because EVERYONE except for the like 3 girls at my school who like Justin Bieber start telling me I have terrible taste in music.

I used to be like in LOVE with country. Up until I was about 10 or so, I always told my family I was gonna go on American Idol and become a big country music star. I think the main reason I loved country so much was because that was the main thing my family listened to. But then I got into middle school and started getting into Rock and Metal and feeling embarrassed whenever my friends got into my car car and the country music was blaring. But deep down, I know I still do love country. Even though metal and rock are my main music things I listen to.

My friends complain I listen to rock and metal all the time because "it sounds weird" and "it's devil worshiping" ... But I hear people who listen to rock discriminate against mainstream music ALOT more than poeple complain to me.
