+836 "It's an acquired taste" just means "This is nasty, but you'll eventually learn to pretend you like it to appear cool," amirite?

for a lot of things, that is true, but chocolate is also supposed to be an acquired taste and so is ice cream, so no...

For most things, yeah (black coffee, especially), but hummus is an aquired taste, too, and I absolutely love it.

Hummus? I think I've always liked that, but I had to learn to like Coke...guess I'm weird.

Coke is nasty in my opinion. Anything carbonated is DEFINITELY an aquired taste. If you go a few months without it (as I did when I first got braces) and try it again, the bubbles will feel very unpleasant.

Mineral water is even worse than coke >.<, if you ask me. Sprite/7Up as well. At least Coke has some remnant of a taste, but the feeling you get in your teeth afterwards kills it for me.

Black coffee is an acquired taste; I used to hate it, but now it's the only way I can drink it. I would guess soda is too, but I absolutely can't stand soda. It's nasty.

Agh, I hate black coffee. D:

It means "just because you don't like it on your first try doesn't mean you should hate it". Sound advice.
