+158 Rich people are disgusting because of how greedy they are. I mean seriously, you ONLY make 500,000 one year so you lay off 20,000 people, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's as much of a generalization as "poor people are disgusting, maybe if they just got off their lazy butt they could find a job"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats even worse, most poor people are poor because they can't find a job or aren't qualified for a better job

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And most rich people aren't real greedy. If someone was willing to pay you $200,000 a year to do a job, wouldn't you take it? A lot of the richest people in the world give a lot of money to charity, hell, most of them even have their OWN charity. You can't just generalize a whole class like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think 200,000 is rich. I mean yeah its a lot of money, but at most its a small business. I mean this actually happened last year to McDonalds

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They don't lay people off because they're greedy, they lay people off because it a smart fucking business decision. Learn some economics. Besides, McDonald's corporation only owns 15% of all McDonald's, the rest are franchised out so it's not some billionaire hot shot laying off a majority of those people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It isnt a smart decision. I understand what you're trying to say. They lay them off in order to save money and prevent the business from going under I understand, but there are other regions to make cuts in, They just don't make them because it upsets the media and the workers. And don't tell me to go learn economics I understand economics. And the decision to throw 20,000 workers out on their ass was made by two CEO's

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the rule is: dont have more workers than you need

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is better that they lay off people becase if they just do pay cuts it will lower the workers morale and the works not working to the best of their ablities. Learned it in economics. Its sad but true

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i agree with you 100%

by Anonymous 13 years ago

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Urmm.. Excuse me, but didn't they earn it? They had to work to get their money. Most of them weren't rich when they were young, they had the same opportunities as most people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(.): That is irrelevant to the post. This ACTUALLY happened

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh shut the fuck up you are annoying and just ignore the stupid rich spoiled girly or whatever the fuck her name is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay, well you said rich people are disgusting because they lay off people. Well if they laid off people, it's because their business if failing, so I doubt they have that much money themselves. If they are still able to make that much money, what's the problem? It's their job, it's not like that sat their lazy butts and some random person offered them it. They had to work for it, and hey, their work paid off.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

im rich and nerdy

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hi everyone spoiled girly u are my idol lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is in one year: http://www.slate.com/id/2136398/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok now thats awesome, but how about this? http://sociology.ucsc.edu/whorulesamerica/power/wealth.html If you compare how much they make compared to how much they donate, it doesnt seem like a lot

by Anonymous 13 years ago

JUST BECAUSE THEY MAKE A LOT DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE GREEDY! What don't you get about that? They are all successful people, mostly businessmen and businesswomen. They EARNED that money because people are willing to pay their income (as in the public). That doesn't make them greedy. Can you please explain to me why you think they're greedy. I'm fascinated to hear your explanation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whether i give an explanation that would make others jaw's drop would not matter. Fact is, a person will believe what they wish, and your mind obviously isn't open to this conversation, and neither is mine. No matter how much we bicker at each other, no one is going to change the others mind

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you can show me how 90% of rich people are greedy, I will change my opinion. I'm trying to change your opinion, you're the one not budging. I haven't show any signs of not budging, you just haven't provided any real argument at all.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have budged, and i probably should have worded my post differently. I realize not all rich people are greedy. But, that also depends on your definition of rich.I agree people who had to work from the bottom up aren't, but a majority of "rich" persons today have had everything they own almost dropped on their laps. Obviously they still had to work for it, but no where near as much as others.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So you're talking about celebrities? You might have an argument there

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, okay yes, but what about mass croppers? The price of a tomato could easily be reduced to around $1 for half a pound but they sit in an office while others do backbreaking work. They still laid off plenty of people as a "just in case" sorta' thing after already laying off 2,000+ people

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never even heard of farmers who employ thousands of other people, sounds like mega-feudalism or something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol i know it does, but there are some pretty large farming companies? i guess i would say. Namely Wonderbread and Bimbo for wheat, but they have multiple farms across various states

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok, like those, however, all those companies are still businesses and everything they do is a business decision. The CEOs of large business usually don't have cash, they have stocks. Thus, their salary is tied to how well their business is doing. Their job is also do make the biggest profit and raise their stock so the stockholders will be happy. So, it's not like they can make bad business choices because they want more money. Good for the company means good for them and vice versa.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Although that is true, its only a simple version of what really happens.A CEO's salary relies roughly 65% on stocks, though I'm not too sure if that's still accurate. I believe a budget is set for the company at the begging of each quarter and at the end of each year whatever is left over is distributed among the CEO-s in place of rolling that money over into the following year. All that leftover money could seriously help during a depression or recession. Besides that, leftover profit is used to "improve" the company. Sometimes, this goes toward vacations to help relieve employee stress, which is normally only available to the heads and upper few

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay then, so if you're ever rich, you're going to donate almost all your money away? Even after all that hard work and hours you put in? Oh, and when you're business isn't doing as well you're going to split your money so you earn as much as other people that do like 1/10 of the hard work you do so that you're all equal, right? If you didn't you'd be horribly disgusting..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As a matter of fact, no I'm not going to donate all of it. I would reinvest whatever i don't use to meet my bills to help my business grow to put aside for a rainy day, and my house would only be big enough to give my parents their own room and my kids would have to share the master bedroom. Nothing extravagant. I grew up in poverty, so I know what its like for one of your parents to be left out on their ass. I know it sounds sappy and maybe extreme, but this is seriously how i feel.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Are you fucking kidding me, "rich people are disgusting because of how greedy they are" what kind of statement is that? Way to generalize idiot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are often good (albeit utilitarian) reasons for this. If they don't lay off those 20,000 workers their profits will continue to drop. Their shareholders will leave them, and nobody will buy the stock they sell. Not only will they not have profits, they won't have stock bringing in revenue either. They'll have to lay off twice as many people to keep things running. Or, alternately, they'll have to cut those 20,000 people's salaries out of the pay of all their workers to make up for the loss, so then most of their workers won't be making enough. In the end, it's better to sacrifice the 20,000 than to make even more people suffer with your poor business decisions. And if you really are talking about McDonalds, that sounds like really low profits to me, considering how big of a company they are. I would expect several million at least. No wonder they're freaking out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It seems to me that you are the disgusting one for labeling a class of people as such out of jealousy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ok I'm just going to go ahead and say this. No one person on this planet has any fucking right to judge or bitch about anybody else or their decisions unless you've actually been in their position. And you can't say "Well, I did a lot of research on this, so I know what I'm talking about" experience beats research

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you enjoy being ignorant?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Tell that to a doctor while you're being rushed into the emergency room and he just woke up at 2 AM to come save your ass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Doctors don't lay people off

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There shouldn't BE a constant group of rich people. If you win the lottery or something, pay for your education and the bills... and donate the rest to charities. :|
