+519 I wish everyone thought the same in America as the people in the South do. Don;t take a dime if you haven't earned it, hardwork pays off and treat women like a princess. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish people in England thought like that too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What south do you live in? Cause it sure isn't the same as mine

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, I live in Tennessee, small town, and thats how we are..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just because you live somewhere doesn't mean you act a certain way and just because you live somewhere doesn't mean you act a certain way. This is basically the same thing as racism, it just doesn't have the same stigma so it makes the homepage

by Anonymous 13 years ago

what, that makes no sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're stereotyping people based on where they live, how is that different from stereotyping people based on their race? I do like the good-natured intent of this post, I apologize if I come off a bit harsh

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Agreed. This post makes the poster look ignorant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ignorance has nothing to do with this post. At all. So stop re-wording this into something it's not. Thats just not fair.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i just don't understand why you had to put "just because you live somewhere doesn't mean you act a certain way" twice. did you mean to change the "doesn't" to "does" for emphasis, but made a typo?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dammit, you're right :) That is what I meant

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha okay, that's what i meant when i said it didn't make sense. my bad! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

pshhh. I bet you live in the north.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just moved from outside of Knoxville, and everybody there treated me like shit, because I wasn't a christian. The south is only good to people that believe in what they believe in. If you are different it scares them and they hate you. <-- That is a fact.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jesus. This is one of the most narrowminded posts Ive ever read. There are assholes and sweethearts all over the world, and Im pretty sure there isn't a concentration of the latter in Arkansas

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Treat women like princesses? They are supposed to make you sandwhiches.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Absolutely amazing. I would love to have you around the house lol ;{)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha, well I'd love to be around your house ;)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Pedobear. no woman agrees to sammich making that easily

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well maybe you just haven't met the right woman.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

pedobear

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and mallsmith Women are only good for 3 things- cooking, cleaning, and making babies. Adurrrr. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sometimes they dont do them all right. worst case scenario, she's bad at sammiches and makin' babies

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If that's the case, a new woman must be found

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes, that is true

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Man, there's not a lot of people in the South who are all up for being friends with everyone. If I went into a small little town in say, Arkansas like 'Bowchickabowow' mentioned earlier, and stood on the highest object in town and declared 'I'm gay!' with a bullhorn, they would not be okay with that. Also, the 'don't take a dime if you haven't earned it' part is something no one would follow. Anyone would gladly accept free money.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and they hang black people.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

A grammar note, the tenses of 'women' and 'princess' don't agree...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unless he/she is saying that all women should be treated like a specific princess. Like we should all be treated like Princess Di or someone . . .

by Anonymous 13 years ago

OP, you are naive.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mmmm I disagree with the last part, but the first 2 I like. You have to work. Sitting around and waiting for something to happen does nothing. But my neighbors are like this, and we're from NY. Yeah, this post is very generalizing, but you always hear about those "Southern gentlemen" and those "Cali girls" and whatnot. I don't think OP meant to sound so stereotypical. It was just a description.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No. I don't wish everyone was a racist Bible-thumping homophobe. I live in a small town in Texas, and I'm getting the hell out of here as soon as I can. Of course, not everyone in the South is like that, but where I live, if you're not Christian, you're an outcast, and if you're gay, you shut the fuck up because you don't want to get beaten up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in Marion, Ar. The people here are prejudiced but friendly. They tend to tolerate instead of accept. They won't be rude or anything. They just won't be your friend unless you are like them. At my school, white people hang out with white people and black people hang out with black people. Even gay people hang with other gay people. The only reasons why white people talk to me are because I have really good grades and take AP classes. Very few people are open minded. It's sad but true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm pretty sure that if I was a half black half middle eastern guy who had a Chinese boyfriend and we were Muslim, I would get stoned the second I moved anywhere in the south

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in the South, and people down here are stupid, arrogant sheep who are afraid to think for themselves. But I still follow the last two parts of this post. ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The south does have its ignorant people, yet you can find just as many who are accepting and open minded. Its all about how a person is raised. And from personal experience I know if I treated someone like crap because of race or sexual orientation, my mother would beat me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Boooo I love the south! Nobody's perfect but most people down here are actually awesome

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The comments are worse than OP's post. At least OP's post was somewhat positive. Everyone in the South isn't narrow-minded and ignorant. I live in the South and I'm pro-choice and all for gay rights. I don't stone people, nor do I hang out with just my race. I'm not stupid either. It makes me feel bad that people always stereotype the South so harshly. ):

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know right? I agree with everything you said, and in my town, people are accepting of everyone.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, so you want everyone to not strive for success and to keep workin' "on the farm" like the failures they are? Southern people make the United States a mockery. I don't give a damn about their values. I live in Florida so I would know. OP needs to get a lobotomy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"Don't take a dime they haven't earned" yeah right. About half the kids at my school don't pay for they're luch. I can't visit a single store without bumping into a dozen people who are paying with food stamps. What sort of fairy tale south do you live in?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in northern Alabama, and for the most part we accept things. I find this post stereotypical in the fact that it implies than men are "southern gentlemen" which sometimes they aren't. Men are men no matter where you find them. It doesn't matter where they were raised it matters who raised them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have to admit, the whole "southern hospitality" thing is kinda out the window in my town.
