+298 It's really annoying when someone believes wholeheartedly in a religion, but has never read the writings their religion is founded on. Because then they are just basing their beliefs on what others tell them and not thinking for themselves. amirite?

it's also annoying when idiots start misinterpreting their faith because they take their religious writings to face value and don't take it in the context it was meant for.

Religion flame war inbound

There's a difference between reading and thinking. Just because other people tell me what it says, doesn't mean I can't decide for myself what it means.

There are a lot of Christians, particulary Catholics, that do not read the Bible. They think that going to Church on Sundays is all it takes. I am Catholic, and I admit that I do not read and know the Bible as well as I should.

But there is more to being a Christian than reading and studying the Bible. I would say, without a doubt, living Jesus' message is more important than being able to quote Bible passages.

I'm not saying it isn't. I'm saying in order to know what Jesus' message is you have to read the Bible. I am also just trying to say many Christians believe if you go to church every Sunday that is all that it takes to be saved.

Well, if someone is a Christian, all they really have to do is believe in God. They don't really have to read the whole Bible. However, the "wholeheartedly" makes me think you mean they want 100% believe EVERY part of it, in which case... yeah, they should know what believing ALL of it (Hyperbole and a Half face) actually consists of.
