YES. I play guitar and everyone drools over that, but I think bass guitarists are SO crucial to a good sounding band, and they totally rock! But my favorite band (Protest the Hero) has an INCREDIBLE bassist, who's like another lead guitar. Yes. A million times yes. I can play a simple G-C-D progression on guitar and people swoon...play something remotely complex on bass and no one bats an eye. Ridiculous.
