+66 Assuming there are other life forms in the universe is like an ant on an ink spot on a giant carpet assuming there is at least one other ink spot somewhere else on the carpet, amirite?

Well, like an ant assuming there is at least one other ink spot LIKE it on the carpet. We know there are other planets, just not a planet that can sustain life like ours. That's nitpicking though.

We know for a fact that there are planets capable of sustaining life like ours.

Oops, phrased that second part wrong, and you're right. The first sentence still stands, but I'm incapable of explaining why eloquently for some reason.

Okay, this video is nice and all, but with this video, it portrays you as assuming that "the earth is in the perfect place" is the only argument that every single Christian has for Creation, which is not only incorrect, but demeaning to me, a logical thinking, Christian.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The video's title is "Creationists Fail Again," so it is specifically talking about creationists, not all Christians. And "Fail Again" implies that there are other creationist arguments that have been refuted prior to this one, recognizing that there are indeed other arguments. So I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. But would you like to share some of the other arguments?

My bad, didn't look at the title, just watched the video. But no, I don't have the patience needed today to debate with an atheist, since many argue very arrogantly. But thankyou for the offer.

not to be a total jerk but that's a bad analogy

There have been organisms found earth that can sustain extreme environmental conditions. Even organisms that don't need oxygen. Like this bacteria they found deep down in Africa that only eats rocks. Pretty wicked. Anyways my point is that the universe may be more habitable than we thought.

Actually. I think some people are misinterpreting. I think I was making the analogy saying that it's plausible to imagine there are other life forms. If you're an ant on a HUGE carpet, there's a pretty high chance there is at least one other ant on it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's what I thought you were trying to say before I read the comments.

I'm pretty sure I made this post saying that there's most likely another ink spot on the carpet. I was suggesting that it is reasonable to assume that there are other planets that can sustain life.
