+338 "Y'all" is a perfectly acceptable contraction, combining "you" and "all". We southerners know what's up! amirite?

Hell's ya, y'all! We knows wassup! lol

DAMMIT. I put the apostrophe in the wrong place. *facepalm*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fixed y

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That doesn't make sense as a contraction. There is one letter from you and all the letters from all. Even if a contraction for you all did make sense, the apostraphe is still be in the wrong place.

What about you'll? That's two letters missing, and there' s two from y'all, so what's the problem?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Eh, oh well. The english language is tricky. :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah but the only people who can make stuff up are the ones that made the english language, which sure as hell wasn't the south.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually "y'all" is correct and recognized as a real word in the English language. After years of slurring I'm pretty sure we did, and "aren't" has all the letters from are in it.

*Redneck English.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just becauseyou're southern and say y'all doesn't mean you're a redneck. You got rednecks in Texas, and we're not even considered the "south." Therefore it's not redneck English.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

not everyone in Texas is a redneck. I consider my self a country girl but I dont like being called a redneck.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People figure me out when I say "y'all." Ha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I live in Chicago and i say Y'all! It's for everyone

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't like saying "y'all" Even though it seems everyone here in Oklahoma does... lol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't consider "y'all" to be a real word... but since I live in effing Northwest Florida I've given up hoping for people to say "you all."
