emily! this made me think of tuck everlasting! do you even remember that movie? its the one with that family that drinks the water from a tree and they live fo'eva! and then the cute boy meets the pretty girl, and then they climb rocks next to a waterfall and he says "i'm 17...lol jk not really, i'm actually super old in this hot teenage body". and then at the end, he says " i will love you until the day i die!!!" which is super romantic because hes never gonna die because hes gonna live forever, so hes saying that hes gonna love her forever! anyway, that's my thought on your post. also, this is emma :)

This makes me think of the Q from Star Trek... Immortal, omnipotent beings who lived in an extra-dimensional plane. They could travel anywhere during any time. Quinn (a Q) didn't see the point of life once you've seen everything since the beginnings of time to the end of existence. Immortality IS a much worse fate than death.

If you like Star Trek, I read a short story based on this idea last night. It was about Data, 2000 years from now, after all his friends, wife and, eventually, organic humanoid life has died out. All that was left were androids who he despised because they did not aspire to be more than what they were, more human, and he felt really alone. It was very sad. Funny enough, the downside of immortality seems to be a recurring theme in Star Trek.

Yeah if someone you love dies then you just have to go on and can't even comfort yourself by thinking that you will be with them again someday.

Having already lived forever a couple of times now, I can tell you it's not that bad.

I admired Percy Jackson for choosing mortality.

As Jack Sparrow's father once said : "It's not just about living forever, Jackie, The trick is living with yourself forever."
