They made that, like, 7 years ago.

I love the fact that she went to war for her father. Not for romance, not because she wanted "more" of something and not because of a magic spell. She went to war, because she loved her family and she wanted to be a good daughter to them. And instead of having a guy save her from in the end, she saves her own dang self. Mulan was strong and independant, but wasn't a total man-hater who didn't accept any help either. She had close friends in the army, and they all, helped each other.she's the best role model, Disney has!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you described perfectly my feelings about the film...those are all the reasons i simply love Mulan :) i don't like the whole Cinderella idea of waiting and wishing for life to happen, being dependent on guys for happiness and change (i know i'm probably really dumbing that movie down, but you get what i'm saying...plus that's an idea that many movies give girls, i think) Mulan shows girls can kick ass and change the world. we all can make a difference, we all are equal, we all can become empowered individuals....yay :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

repost...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

while i agree that my thoughts are unoriginal, i must say that i didn't knowingly repost this. this is how i've always just felt about Mulan, it's my favorite Disney movie, to be honest :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot! And you haven't got a clue...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oops...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is the only Disney movie I like more than the original story. Apparently in real life, Mulan was killed as soon as she was found out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not actually known if Mulan was a real person, actually. The movie is based off of an old chinese poem, whether fact or fiction is unknown. And actually, in the poem, Mulan served her years in the army and came home safe and sound. (:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it teaches girls you have MAKE your dream come true instead of just wishing, that will get you nowhere

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm glad they kept this moral, for "The Princess and the Frog". She still ended up needed Naveen's help though, but there's nothing wrong wiht letting people help you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People forget about Belle. She was an independent, strong woman who cared deeply about her father, and found love without the false glamor of a handsome face, and it didn't take a day to happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Belle is my second favorite, no doubt. She'd actually be my first favorite princess, because Mulan isn't a princess. Belle's well read too, which is awesome. Mulan's just more awesome, because.. well, war is hard. She had a chance to go home, and stay safe, but she didn't. She wanted to stay. And there was so much risk in going into the amry for her father. If she was found out, she would have been killed on the spot. If she hadn't saved Shang's life, (not to mention pulled the, "I did it to save my father", thing right after Shang's own father recently died in battle.) She would have died.

its stupid how cinderella and princess jasmine and all the others just have everything done for them. i love how mulan is always standing up for herself and fighting which is why i love her so much. shes my favorite princess :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

She's not technically a princess, so- wait! I just realized something! All but, maybe two princesses are bad role models, but disney non-princesses are GREAT role models! Is Disney trying to send us a message about monarchies or something?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

haha that is quite an interesting thought right there :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love Mulan, she's a fantastic character! :) Personally, though, Tiana's my favorite, because she does have the same morals, not quite to Mulan's extent, but they're both very independant, and I just connect to her more. And Belle's pretty amazing as well. :D
