The hot-cold air collision is a tornado. My dad told me thunder is when the lightning splits the air and the thunder is air rushing to fill it. That's why you only hear thunder AFTER lightning strikes.

i no where thunder comes from. my sister did tht so i can get a lower average score.

It's when hot and cold air collide, it makes a big boom. Otherwise known as thunder. It's not rocket science....
