+316 Okay, America's justice system is not just based off the principles of the Bible. If you look in almost any religion, there are codes of honor similar to the Christian beliefs. So, it would be more technical to say "America's justice system is based LOOSELY off of values that many religions also agree with." Amirite?

Yes, the Bible has some ideas that are commonly shared between religions. That doesn't mean that history is changed, as they indeed based the justice system off of the Bible, not other religions.

Do some people actually think it's based off of the Bible.

Unfortunately, yes.

America was one of the first modern countries not to base its laws and human rights codes off some type of religion. it takes the ideas of philosophers of the renassance and the legan xodes of the romans and the napolianic code and created a new system

Actually it DID involve the Bible. George Washington said the country couldn't be ruled without God or the Bible, and there are many similar quotes.

Just because they made quotes that involved God and believed that doesn't mean it was based on the Bible. Actually, your argument is just crap, because people can believe one thing but do something totally different. Plus, saying something like that has absolutely nothing to do with the Justice System... So it doesn't matter anyway...

But why would he say that if they demanded separation of church and state?

There's more than one instance in the bible where they stoned someone for something that isn't even considered a crime today.
