+985 Canadians, Australians and British people: You know who the President of the United States is. Americans: You don't know the names of the Prime Ministers of Canada, Australia and the UK, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's because the president is more of a celebrity than our prime ministers

by Anonymous 13 years ago

jeez louise

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But do Canadians, Australians, and Brits know the names of each others' Prime Ministers or just their own?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly. I feel like OP is trying to say Americans are ignorant (which, every country has some ignorant people, not just America), but I'm also sure every other country is not aware of all the other countries' political figures.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know the British Prime minister is Tony Blair and I don't know the Australian one but I know she's a lady and she's an atheist

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Tony Blair hasn't been the British Prime miinister for years - we've had two more since then.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh that's awkward. Who's the prime minister now?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

David Cameron.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh. I see. Well I learned something new today.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well then see, it's not bad that Americans don't know anyone but their own leader; some of you guys don't either. You can name our president just as I could name some of the British royal family. It's all about who's highly and globally publicized.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, no.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is it Stephen Harper in Canada?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yep, it is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's probably because the prime ministers of those other countries fail in comparison when it comes to importance..."we're in trouble...let's call the Canadians"...a phrase that has never and will never be spoken, same goes for the aussies and limey fucks we've bailed out of total annihilation

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i feel like these arguments about how people of a certain country know who our president is, but we don't know theirs, is faulty because, let's face it, the US is the most powerful and most recognized/publicized country in the world. not trying to sound arrogant, but of course everyone else is going to know about us. but why would we know who runs every other country in the world? we know the important ones that are in the news (russia, north korea, etc) just like the rest of the world only knows us cause we're in the news all the time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with what this post is saying; Americans are ignorants. Enough said.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Being an American, I must say that is completely true with most. Not all of us are morons, however. Simply a large percent is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

99% of American users reading this have never heard of Djibouti, Nauru and/or Andorra, which proves my point in the previous comment.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Perhaps more like 85% or so.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Dude, admit it. You'd never heard of those countries because you're yet another ignorant American.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is a fine line between commenting on the stupidity of most Americans and trolling. Unfortunately, you saw fit to cross it and insult someone for the heck of it. I regret that you had to resort to this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And American's are "arrogant and ignorant" do me a favor and ask every American, you may be surprised by our intelligence, then ask every American, Canadian, Australian, Briton, how much of a shit they're giving? Probably lower than the aforementioned

I thought some people would have known our Prime Minister.. It's our first woman - and I'm pretty sure the first atheist. Plus she stabbed the previous PM in the back. Then again I did only know Obama.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gillard isn't the first atheist PM, Bob Hawke who was PM of Aus from 1983-1991 was atheist/agnostic, and I'm pretty sure we've had one other that I can't remember at the moment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm the PM of Australia.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I knew about you! (: No one else though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm in australia and I knew everyone except canada

by Anonymous 13 years ago

everyone knows who the President of America is, though. I think?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Obama rama.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I only know my own - the Australian pm. And of course Barack Obama. Otherwise my guess for England was Gordon brown. No idea about Canada.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know Cameron and Harper. Not sure who Australia's new one is though.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm Canadian, I know Obama, and Cameron, only know the Australian one is a woman.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

America isn't all ignorant, the prime ministers just aren't publicized in the media as much.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm British. I know Obama and Cameron, and I know Australia has a lady PM. No idea for Canada until I read it on here.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the president seems to be treated more of a celebrity than a political figure .

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not any from any of those countries, yet I know the names of the Prime Ministers for all of them, and the President.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Harper, Gillard, and Cameron... I'm from the US.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And I bet just about no one knows what major political event is going on in China right now, despite the fact that it is the largest country. It's all about perspective, what you consider important enough to pay attention to. Or, perhaps more accurately, what the local media decides to pay attention to.

As if this shit really matter. Ignorance of global affairs (especially the minutiae) doesn't affect someone's ability to be a lawyer, a doctor, or a university lecturer any more than it affects someone's ability to flip burgers at McDonald's.
