Dude, I'm Protestant and I know thats TOTAL bullshit. Some Catholics dont even believe in pergatory anymore, and the others want you to simply serve God to go to heaven.
Yea, I go to a Catholic school and I don't know anyone who actually believes all the Catholic beliefs. Catholicism is a dying...well not religion but denomination as most people find they are too stuck in their ways-going backwards and yea being 'saved' is not a Catholic term.
It hasn't happened for about 500 years.
Stop bashing religion because not only is it rude, but you obviously don't even know what you're talking about.
being "saved" isnt even a catholic term. that methodist and other religions. all we want to do is live serve god and go to heaven. we pay alot for funerals because we love the people we lost and want them to have the best goodbye posible. please don't get mad at other religions if your no even from that one. thanks
haha I'm catholic...well not really, I'm baptised and everything, first communion etc and i've never heard that. Fair enough if you want to put your opinion on here, that's what it's for, but you shouldn't make up/ post your opinion if you don't even have the facts right.
First of all I'm not American and second of all, I'm pretty sure that's the exact same with every religion and the Catholic church says 'excessive wealth is a sin.' Although I will admit the irony that the Catholic church is one of the world's richest organisations, but still it says nothing that having an expensive funeral will save you. Islam is against all expensive things when it comes to funerals, graves etc but you still see them in their graveyards, just like Catholics will still have excessive wealth and use it to pay for funerals.
Th@702620 (frecklemooey): I may not have my facts straight here, but I'm pretty sure that the Catholic Church is one of the world's richest organizations because Catholic/Christian is the religion of a majority of the world. Thereby they have more people donating, ect..
Is this a troll or are you seriously that ignorant? And honestly, it really bothers me that this post wasn't even voted down and there's a ton of "yeah you are"s
Not just religions have funerals, but atheists have them too. It doesn't have to be religious, it's a life celebration. And last time I checked, for the reference of ignorant people, most people are either buried or burned when they die. You're not just going to say, "Oh, I'm done with this now," while shoving the body into a trashcan.
In addition, I'm Catholic, and we don't have such a practice. I haven't even heard of that one, before, actually.
It's one thing to voice your opinion on here, but it's another to trash something that you are unaware about. You really need to think before you type.
This is so ignorant. All funerals cost money, no matter what religion you are or if you even have a religion. I'm not catholic, but my dad's side of the family is and no one has ever had to pay any money on their death bed..
That isn't what this post is about at all, fool. When you're dying the priest asks you for money and if you pay (bribe) him enough then he will forgive your sins for you. That's what's fucked up.
That's not even true. I know that for a fact.

I believe he's referring to Indulgences, but they haven't been sold or abused within the Catholic Church for hundreds of years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indulgence
Bullshit.
Are you aware that this no longer happens?
It hasn't happened for about 500 years.

Dude, YOU don't have your facts right. He's talking about funerals. Yes, you have to pay for them.
Damn Americunts, Ignorant as always.
Non catholics have funerals too...

Haha Catholicism isn't the religion of majority in the world, although Christianity is in Westernised countries aka richer countries.
Oooh ok, well like I said >>>>> "I may not have my facts straight"
Is this a troll or are you seriously that ignorant? And honestly, it really bothers me that this post wasn't even voted down and there's a ton of "yeah you are"s
Yeah, funerals cost money, but it doesn't matter where the funeral is or if its even a funeral in a church.
ummmm I'm catholic and I went to a bapist school, and they were the ones that wanted you to be "saved."

No...Just...NO. That's not what happens at all. Either you're not Catholic or you go to one messed up Church.
The voters disagree with you.
The voters are just reading whatever is written on the post and agreeing without looking into it themselves.
And I'm saying that's not what happens at all, and has never happened to anyone in my family.
How dare you? Are you even Catholic? Because if you aren't then how do you know?
You wouldn't have to be a Catholic to see it happen, know someone it happened to, hear about it, etc...
It happens if you live around the year 1520...
