+445 It's a little scary to think that a meteor could come crashing into the earth at any moment and wipe out our entire species, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Meteor? Not as dangerous as an asteroid, I'd say. Besides, we'd see it years before.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well that's comforting...

I had a dream about this once. It was exhilarating.

We would have some warning about that well in advance unless it flies at us directly from the sun.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well I agree with the first part, but I'm sure they have something in case that happens, but the chances of that happening are perty slim, seeing as the sun's gravitational pull is much stronger than the earth's and any rock that happens to be floating around the sun would probably get pulled in and destroyed pretty quickly

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's because it fucking can't. Dumbass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's more scary to think that you can die any minute now... Whoa. I creeped myself out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why? We can predict asteroids and meteors decades before they're even close to us. What's scary is a gamma ray burst or whatever. All life on Earth would immediately die.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i thought that since jupiter was so fucking huge compared to earth, most asteroids and other space debris don't hit us because of the enormous pull of jupiter's gravity

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Meteors that could cause any real damage only come around an estimated every 100 000 years

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We may be able to tell if something will hit us years from now but do you really think the government would let that info out? Think of the mad chaos and riots that would happen if everyone knew we were doomed anyway

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, it'd be a meteorite if it hit Earth.
