+508 You have to be at least 17 to see an R rated movie and 18 to see an X rated movie. How much do they think you'll mature in that one year, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's weird because at 17 you can rent porn at the video store.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Rent, not buy! No, I don't know-- wait, how do YOU know?..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well when I was 17...which was only 3 years and a half years ago..all the dudes were always bragging that they could go rent porn now.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You do realize that you wake up on your 18th birthday dressed completely in business attire, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Alright, 1.You can be any age to see an R rated movie if you have parental supervision. 2.They don't call them X movies anymore, they call them Unrated.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Unrated is wayyyyyyyyy different than X-rated. X-rated means porn. XXX.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh. Oh oh oh oh oh ewwww. Yeah.... awkward. Well I guess it's good that I didn't know that, being the young person I am...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, the X rating in the U.S. is now called NC-17. Unrated means exactly that, it wasn't rated.

I thought it was G-kids can buy the ticket PG-parents can buy the ticket and bring a kid in PG13-same, but kid is recommended to be >13 y.o. NC16-No children under 16 at all NC17-No children under 17 at all M18- No one under 18 at all R21- Porn, extreme violence no one under 21 at all X is retired, but I would think it's extreme porn, or porn and extreme violence together.

You forgot regular R.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

we don't have that in SIngapore

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh yeah, I forgot.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ack. The American(?) system is so confusing :S We just have U (everyone) PG (parental guidance), 12A (anyone under twelve has to be with an adult), 12, 15 and 18 :P Simpler?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We have - Suitable for everyone - Suitable for everyone, parental guidance recommended - Suitable for everyone, parental guidance necessary - Suitable for people above 15 years old - Suitable for adults only

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't think American system is confusing The only confusing thing is that parents seem to think that their 5 year olds will be ok sitting through a PG movie. It's not rated "G" for a reason, even though they let anyone into it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But 5 year olds WILL be okay sitting through a PG movie. Just because its not rainbows and sunshine all the time doesnt mean its bad for kids.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

We have; G - general (everyone) PG - parental guidance recommended M - recommended for 16 and over R16 - must be sixteen (or with a parent) R18 - must be eighteen (or with a parent, I think)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If anything, I think an 18-yr-old's matured less.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In Australia we just have G for everyone, PG is recommended for over 13 or parental guidance, M is recommended 15, MA is restricted 15, and R is restricted to 18

by Anonymous 11 years ago

They have to put the age cut off somewhere, and since you're not of legal age until 18, that's why 17 is too young. Most movie theaters where I live don't check your age anyway, but maybe that's because no pornos show at them. You obviously have Internet, there ya go. I didnt realize people still paid for porn...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

In England you have to be 18 for a regular adults only, R equivalent movie (just called 18) and also 18 for a porn movie (R18, for restricted 18.)
