+264 If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people left to reason with, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same with atheists.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, because religious people are close-minded and can't be reasoned with.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

dude, I could replace everything you say with 'atheists' and i'd be correct...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Religious people still believe the religion they were brainwashed with when they were 4 years old. Obviously they are close minded, even when they are surrounded by evidence proving their religion wrong.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Could you tell me something that proves our religion wrong? Because history has many things recorded (by atheists, mind you) that match up to Christian beliefs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(ValerieFace):@690119 (ValerieFace): If I said I had an invisible, magical pet T-Rex, would you believe me? What if I said he scratched the tree in my backyard as opposed to my dog, who happens to be tied to that tree and has very long claws? All an atheist does is take evidence and form the best ideas, and unlike religious people we refine and outright reject those ideas if we find new evidence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You didn't answer my question. Tell me something that proves Christianity false?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The non-existence of giant human fossils, while giants are clearly mentioned in gen 6:4

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And, atheists, they do believe the universe accumulated over millions and millions and millions of years, yes? How long does it take bones to decompose again? Not nearly as long. There were giants, very few compared to the general population, but yes, giants. Maybe none of them happened to die in place that made it suitable for them to fossilize.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most bones did decompose, yes, but those that were preserved became fossils. We can prove the age of the earth using radiological dating (look it up) and since we have found no evidence of giants (or unicorns) ever existing, we must assume they never did. And if millions of humans died in a great, worldwide flood, wouldn't we find human prehistoric fossils all over the earth that show signs of drowning? I can understand if your faith gives you comfort and a feeling that you are not the insignificant, non-eternal speck that science tells you you are, but please don't try to defend Christianity, or any religion, with science. The evidence is just stacked against you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Christianity is actually a very humbling religion, thanks. Knowing there is a God who is far more advanced and powerful than you can dream of does make you feel very insignificant. It's called faith and self-acceptance of your position in the world. You respect your elders, don't you? You don't feel insignificant to them, do you? No. But you acknowledge their power. Oh, really? So there weren't egyptian chariots found in the banks of the red sea, where, as the Bible states, God enclosed the sea on Egyptian soldiers to save the Israelites? There were. You can look that up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

1. Having chariots on the *banks* of the red sea doesn't prove anything. The Egyptians fought many wars in that area, and there NO records of the Egyptians keeping Jewish slaves or having every first-born male suddenly die, which is a pretty significant event, don't you think? 2. Christianity states that by simply having faith you will live an eternity in paradise, which I'm sure is very comforting compared with an eternal state of unconscious sleep.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, it is very comforting. No argument there. I apologize, I mistyped, somewhat. They were not *only* found on the banks. They were also found *in* the sea. And we'll bring up your fossils again, many were found in the middle of the sea, along with those chariots. Do you think those egyptians just decided to ride their chariots out to the middle of the red sea for the fun of it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sea levels change, its a fact of the world. Global warming is raising sea levels now. 3000 years ago it would have been different. And why couldn't there have been a perfectly natural flood that drowned the Egyptians? And tell me again why there is no evidence of a global flood? My eyes are bad, I didn't see it in your last post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, aren't atheists just as closed minded for not seeing our way?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most do. The stereotypical visciously defensive atheist is usually far from the truth. I find, normally, religious people are far less open to contrasting ideas and opinions, especially scientific evidence. This is, of course, not true of every single one: I am merely generalising from experience.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We don't believe one thing that hasn't even been proven! It's not like we don't believe in gravity, or Newtons laws.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, I have absolutely no clue what you intended to mean by the previous post. You're not a Creationist? You only believe proved scientific theory? You only believe proved religious theory? Help me out here..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sorry, I should have explained myself more. People think creationist are stupid, but we just don't believe one unproven thing (evolution). We don't think all science is evil or anything like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Please don't make me present the science behind evolution. I'm tired and have walked 50k in the past 3 days. If anyone else wants to, feel free. If you get free time, research some evolution theory, maybe read some of Darwin's papers. I have many Christian friends who hold beliefs much like yours who have found such research really interesting. A lot of knowledge and a wider spectrum of viewpoints can be gained from it, something everyone should always stive for. Enjoy. Let me know the results. (:

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why should we atheists belive in something that's unproven as well such as Creatism? Both sides have the SAME about of proof; NONE. No one is right, it's all how you believe things in my opinion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First you don't have to, I never forced you to be here and debate with me. And second, people try to force evolution on me, I don't try to force Christianity on you. You know who's having other peoples beliefs forced on them? The people who got fired for believing in Creation. Some only mentioned the possiblity of an intelligent designer and they got fired.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Did I ever mention that you forced me to debate with you? Not once. The way you are 'debating' over this IS a form of forcing Christianity on people. You are stating things as a fact and not your opinion which is what this site is based on. And please, give me some names, occupations, and such because I haven't heard of anything like this. Unless of course the job site was an over-the-top stereotype Atheist Cult then yes, I can see that. But anything else, you can and WILL get sued over which no one wants so they accept religion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The names of the people were in the movie "expelled" I don't currently have a copy, but I am going to barrow one tomarrow, then you will have your proof.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sorry, but I'm an atheist and half of my close friends are Religous. Just because I won't be converted, does not make me close-minded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

sure, but i hate the "you're close minded" argument. i don't believe calling somebody close-minded makes you any more open minded. all i'm trying to say...i don't believe in evolution, you don't believe in God... close minded is dealing with new things, not you're beliefs. having an opinion does NOT make you close minded.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes yes, I understand and I know that close minded is. I was just saying that is what you made it seemed in your last comment is all. I'm close-minded about certain things, everyone is.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and generalizing an entire group of people isn't close minded or unreasonable at all *rolls eyes*

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is true because reason is the opposite of faith. Hence the name FAITH.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Reason is not neccessarily the opposite of faith.. I am atheist but have faith in humanity (although I do occasionally lose it on the internet) and faith in Buddhist principles. Reason is the opposite of blindly following, not faith.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true; I'm also an atheist and have a sporratic faith in humanity. Touche, good sir.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ha, sorry, I can come across rather touché sometimes on this topic. Not intended in this particular case.. Nice to find a fellow believer!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If i could reason with you there would be no faggots left to post this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Butthurt over the fact that it's true?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lawls. I'll do what you atheists do when questioned about TBBT. Prove it isn't true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Prove what isn't true?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

religion. Since you said "hurt that it isn't true" It implying religion in general

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That is not what I said... I said "butthurt that it's true". "It" being the post. Learn to read.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

WEML. you know what i mean. and it being the post refers to religion so one would make that jump..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lolwut

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Way to paraphrase House. =/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

is offensive 2 my relijun!!!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know what I don’t understand? Why people can’t just leave every-freaking-body else’s religion alone. As a Christian, I understand that we are supposed to try to convert people. However, the Bible also says that after a certain point we should simply wash our hands of that person. Also, who the heck cares who has what religion anyway? Is it affecting you? I didn’t think so. Everybody leave everybody else alone and all conflicts are resolved. Are we all happy now, children?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

From House. This has always been one of my favorite quotes. Very true.
