+120 Lots of people say that it's stupid when people say "I love you" after dating for a week. Well saying "I like you" sounds a lot stupider. amirite?

That would be weird. See a high school couple, 18 year olds, say "Oh, I think I'm in like with you!" and start making out would be pretty peculiar. XD

i usually say "i'm crazy for you" or something like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because you don't love them after knowing them for two days.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

what if you've known them for a long time then started dating?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hence why I put "knowing them for two days" And if I didn't, then that's different.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

why would you date someone after only knowing them for two days then, let alone saying I love you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I honestly do not know, but people do it. Why don't you go ask them? Personally, I think it's quite rediculus that people do that. At least wait until you know their last name. O-o

LOL tell me about!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Uhm you don't love someone after dating them for a week. How about just not trying to be all "I'm in a relationship!! Xoxo <33"?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it's perfectly acceptable to say "I like you" versus "I love you." If a guy told me he loved me after a week (ESPECIALLY IN HIGH SCHOOL), I'd be freaked out and think that his idea of "love" must be incredibly shallow compared to my own, and most likely break it off with him altogether. Saying "I love you" preemptively/for appearances is what is actually stupid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree, saying "I like you" is actually a lot more sincere and honest. Rushing into declaring your "love" for someone devalues the phrase a lot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oops, meant *prematurely.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It all depends on the context and the people involved. Everybody has a different definition of love. Personally, I think that if a person says, "I love you." to every bf/gf they've ever had after only a week or two, they need to take a step back and think about whether or not they're rushing things in all of their relationships.

I like you sounds perfectly fine.....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd probably just say "I really like you" . . . or nothing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't thing the phrase "I like you" is awkward, but I guess telling the person you're dating "I like you" seems a little off simply because if you're dating someone you obviously [hopefully?] like them. However, by tweaking the statement and saying "I really like you..." you sound a little less obvious and a lot more sincere. Problem solved.

*more stupid

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"I enjoy your company, and desire more of it"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It sounds fine to me. "I had an awesome time and I really like you." Personally, I think it's weird to say I love you early in a relationship. It could freak them out and make the term seem less special.
