+625 You know times have changed when 7 yr old kids actually bluntly say "when daddy puts his penis in mommy's vagina then a baby is made." Back in the day I just thought babies appeared from a magical, mysterious place...we used to be so pure. amirite?

Yeah. I used to think that the wedding ring had powers to make a baby in mom's stomach. Once, when I was young, when my mom was washing her hands, and I took the ring next to her and wore it. I asked her what was it, and she replied it was the wedding ring. I shrieked and threw the ring. I kept crying, and when my mom found out what was it, she laughed. She still tells this story to her friends. :/

Yes, because knowing the truth about where a baby comes from is so impure. I was never told a fairytale by my parents about how babies are created, and I'm probably older than you.

I think they meant that children used to be so pure and innocent, what with their fantasies and misconceptions. But now society has taken that away from them through tv, music, video games, etc. They will never have the opportunity to just...not know, and relish in their own ideals.

That is totally what I meant. Thanks! :-D

How is knowing body parts and their functions unpure? I don't think keeping kids in the dark is helpful (with some exceptions).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Personally I think it is a bad idea to label a truth as "unpure".

Sorry, just to clarify. I wasn't meaning that knowing about body parts is impure, it is just that as young kids we used to be like in this fantasy world with no adult knowledge. Now adays children know about everything...maybe pure wasn't the right word! :-S

I always thought that every female would have a baby someday and it just grew inside of them. And I also thought that the baby grew in the stomach and you always had to have surgery to get it removed. I learned the truth when I was like 8 though.

I didn't know that there was a Daddy involved until 4th grade. Legit. I thought that the Mommy wished really hard and then a Man came and stayed with her forever.

I used to think that a mommy and daddy's love was so strong that it just happened randomly, with no sex. Then when the baby was born, it'd come out of the stomach (I guess I thought the skin would like, rip open?) not the vagina.

Times haven't changed just because one kid knows how babies are made. There are still hundreds and thousands of children who do think it comes from magic.

When I was you get I thought the doctor decided when a woman was pregnant and just called them up saying "HEY GUESS WHAT! you are gonna have a baby! =D" but no..... I am one of the few that learned about sex in sixth grade =p

I think a better term for it would be ignorant, not pure. Denying the truth doesn't make someone more pure.

Yah, i definately used the wrong word. I just couldn't think of which word to use at that point in time. :-S

I highly doubt they actually understand the process. Naming names isn't understanding.
