+183 It's annoying when you ask your English teacher if you can go to the bathroom and they say no cause you have to say " may I go to the bathroom, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Actually Mrs. Angry English Teacher 'Can I go to the bathroom' is acceptable because you are in control of whether I can go or not so I really do not know if I can go to the bathroom"

Hah thats so true

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's what I've ALWAYS wanted to say.

It's really the teacher saying, "I don't know, can you?" ugh, so annoying

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It'd be weird if that was a legitimate question by someone in sex ed class.

I just say "When I was using 'can' I was using its secondary model form as a verbal modifier asking for permission, as opposed to expressing an ability. I thought since you were a teacher you'd know that. My bad. MAY I use the restroom?"

I just say 'Yes, yes I can go to the bathroom.' then I leave.

I just pee on the floor. That'll show 'em

My BIM teacher makes you wait 5 minutes before asking another question if you ask to go to the bathroom with 'can,' and every question asked after that is 2 more minutes that you have to wait. So if you really have to pee and you asked the wrong way, you're screwed.

Is it really that hard to say "May I go to the bathroom?" After X amount of years, you'd think people would get used to it and just say may I

After so many years, I would think that you would learn how to add periods at the end of your sentences.
