+91 The US health care system needed a reform - its seriously lagging behind other developed countries. This reform will benefit those who can and can't afford insurance. It will be cheaper per person. Embrace it. Accept it. Move on. Amirite?

Seriously, just fuck off.

This is good. I don't care if we have to pay a tiny bit more on our taxes. we need to keep healthcare companies from dropping us for a pre-existing condition

I'm indeed for the health care bill as well, but I can definitely see a few flaws in it. For one, universal health care isn't exactly the best idea; as the availability rises and the price lowers, we will see an inverse decline in the quality of health care being provided. For example, Canadians may be able to say "What's that? Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my free health care," but Americans used to be able to have the quick response of "I apologize Canada, but you'll have to speak louder. You see, the massive line that you're standing in to get sub-par medical attention is too loud. One sec, I'll just finish up getting my top-notch heart surgery from some of the best surgeons in the world, and I'll meet right up with you." Health care may be able to be more available, but I think we really need to weigh quality above quantity. Also, the new plan will cost about $100 billion a year, which is roughly the amount attributed to the war in Iraq yearly.

*rant continued* It's VERY costly, which will do nothing but further the decline in health care quality. You also need to understand that there is already a shortage of health care workers in the hospital- this is not because of the lack of health care providers but because of the gaps in the budget to allow for safe and adequate staffing to meet the needs of the community . by allowing every citizen coverage, we are greatly pushing the capacity of the healthcare team. the end result could be a deficiency in the quality of care provided to each patient.

But of course, there are good sides to the bill too. I'm not saying that the bill shouldn't have been passed, but there need to be some more amendments, and the government needs to start working out a solution for what I stated above.

You're obvioudly very informed, but the US system doesn't necessarily mean 'just finish up getting my top-notch heart surgery from some of the best surgeons in the world'. In fact, the cost per person in the US system is almost three times that in the UK, and isn't better either. Not by a long shot. Its seriously behind us in Britain. It needs smoothing out, but it will be good for the US. The NHS is the best thing, in my opinion, in my country at the moment, its time the Americans weren't deprived of something similar.

ummmm, the new bill is forcing EVERYONE to buy health insurance. So, I don't understand how it will help those who can't afford health care. If you can't afford health care then how are you supposed to buy health insurance? it's a stupid bill all the way around. Sure we may be "lagging" behind some countries, but were way ahead of A LOT more.

The new health care bill is a FAIL! I do not want to pay more taxes for people who can't afford their own. It's really not my problem and i don't care if people call me heartless. Also, they're going to fine you if you don't get health care. I mean really? Are they going to go fine a hobo because he didn't get health care?

its ridiculous!the people who're passing the healthcare bill now will be dead and gone when the costs and fees and pricey taxes have to be paid for!its going to effect MY generation, and my generation isnt very educated about it because Obama and his ignorant staff only wants it passed so he can mess up Washington D.C. even more!
