Quite often they have, apart from other opposites the two families may have, in one family the wife does all the work and the husband does little, and in the other the husband does all the work, and the wife does little. When the husband and wife that do little are together, that's where all the drama begins, but when the husband and wife that do the majority of the work are together, they usually get on alright.

Not to mention the fact that often the mother and father you would punch happen to be a married couple that got split apart.
