+450 Is it really necessary for the movie Avatar to be re-released in theaters? It's already the highest grossing movie of all time, amirite?

I actually didn't even like the movie. It's just Pocahontas with kickass special effects.

I know right! I don't see what's so amazing about the movie, the special effects are the only reason it's so successful.

They probably realized that nobody really wants to buy it on DVD since, like you said above, the only cool stuff is the special effects. So, in order to make the maximum profit off of this movie (since they probably expected more people to buy the DVD) they need to (hopefully) replicate the original theater run. However I'm not actually sure how well the DVD did in sales so that whole spiel could be bullshit. If the DVD did amazingly as well then I have no clue why they're re-releasing it. They may just be greedy little bastards :P

my dad is FORCING me to see it with him for the rerelease. I personally have not seen and refuse to see it for social anarchy reasons...

Social anarchy reasons... xD

Same here. I don't understand how it can be the highest grossing movie of all time...I mean, there have been so many much better movies out there. Although, if you adjust for inflation (which no one ever does), then Gone With the Wind would be the highest grossing movie of all time. But since it cost about ten cents to see a movie back then, obviously it wouldn't have made anywhere near as much money.

Ima let you finish, but... Crap. Can't kanye this one up.

Probably because James Cameron didnt win the Oscar

And it's only been like eight months since it was released in theaters. If they're going to re-release it, you'd think they'd wait a little longer.

I actually remember that my dad told me that they would probably re-release it and when they did he would take me because the movie just isn't the same if it's not in 3D and in a theater. I never got to see it in theaters, so I'll probably go. Oh god run-on sentences.

I hated Avatar. Stupidest movie I've ever watched, and because my friends all love it I had to watch it 3 or 4 times.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they're rereleasing it because even though it's the highest grossing movie of all time, they expected alot more from it but clash of the titans and alice in wonderland, etc. came out at the same time, and they're planning to make up for it now.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's kind of my point; do they really need more money than what was already paid to see the movie eight or so months ago? It's the /highest grossing movie of all time/, how much more are they expecting from it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It made so much money because it released in imax and 3D with gives you a shitload of more money
