It's hard to read a book when the main character is a judgmental hypocrite, amirite?

I'm reading that now in class....

That's what I was thinking, except that I usually like it when the character has some quirk to their personality instead of being perfect. Holden Caulfield was a whiny bitch though.

I loved The Catcher in the Rye

Same here, it's one of my favorites. I loved Holden.

Or the bible...

My first thought while reading this was the bible.

I think a complex and hated character makes a book that much more interesting.

Catcher and the rye! I'm in class and supposed to be talking about it but I'm on here instead lol

In English, we have to read a book and so far, the only action has been the main character beating his wives.

Like Vampire Academy.

@678131: Depends on the writer, really. I think a story written from the perspective of a hypocritical mind is highly intriguing.
