I disagreed. My brother is serving in a hell-hole at the moment. A hell-hole he (we) shouldn't be in. What he's doing over there isn't praiseworthy as he isn't protecting me (arguably, what he's doing over there is putting me at a greater risk), he's hurting others. Frankly, I will love him for who he is but I can't thank him for what he's doing.

You have to support the soldiers fighting the war. You don't have to support the politicians that got us into said war.

I live in Hawaii. If I thanked every military member I saw, the only words I'd ever say would be "thank you". Not that I don't support them, because I do. (I don't support the war in Iraq, though. Completely unjustified.)

No it won't. There are already in the military, it won't make any difference unless they were about to quit and needed some kid stranger's praise.
