Saying hello doesn't have to be the same as asking who the caller is.

Well if you say something like "Hey whore" because it says it's your best friend calling, and really it's some random person borrowing their phone to call you, that would be weird. My mom used to answer her cell phone with "hey woman" when her friend called, but it was always her friends son asking for my brother haha.
