+180 Most of the time, justice is merely a euphemism for revenge. It's hard to explain your reasoning behind it without using the words "deserve" or "closure," amirite?

I think revenge is more personal than justice. Revenge is what we believe they deserve, Justice is a more neutral (but not always totally unbiased) look on what consequences the person's actions merit.

You can think someone deserves a punishment without wanting revenge on them.

Fairness is the goal of justice, harm is the goal of revenge.

There is an Avatar: The Last Airbender episode that covers this topic perfectly. Season 3, Episode 16: "The Southern Raiders", I do believe. /fangirl Basically what it says is that closure is not the same thing as revenge. Closure may just be meeting the man who killed your mother to see what he's like (must - stop - fangirling) but revenge would be killing him.
