war helps the economy only if the public are behind such a war. As with WWI and WWII. However the American public even hinted at a return to isolationism after Vietnam so sorry mate, (sestrada16) the economy point probably isn't valid here. To bring in the points of Mr Angry up there, yeah war isn't something we should condone however to return to the main point, Nixon did very well in improving relations with China and it was the Sino-American relationship that played a part in the downfall of the Soviet Union, so Nixon and Kissinger did play a part in diffusing the biggest potential crisis of the 20th century. Anyway there are valid points on both sides and it may be because I'm not American but I don't think this is something to get incensed about, it's just a statement intended to stimulate debate, keep it PC kids.

My dad's family knew him personally. When he became president, half of them moved to Australia. My dad hasn't heard from them in 40 years.
