+436 I hope we never have the technology to manipulate what our children will look like before they are born because the human race would look boring, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wtf?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hell no. If I could change how my baby looked, I'd have a wolverine-dolphin cross breed human child. what's boring about that ?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i'd make an unfat walrus

you, sir, are a sick man. XD

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, not to mention unnatural. Things and "technologies" like that creep me out.

*Cough cough* Luddite *cough cough* Lol jk. ;P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know what's sad? I had to google "Luddite" to get what you said. :/

This would only be true if creativity died, and I guess it could be argued that for many people it has.

parents would subconsciously create a child according to the image of the most attractive things they can think of mashed together. therefore, it is undeniable that a parent would be attracted to their child. so yeah, its pretty messed up

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't see why it would look boring. Every parent has a different idea of what they want their kid to look like.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As previously mentioned, it wouldn't be "boring" because every parent has a different idea of what they want their child to look like. Also, people's perception of what is beautiful varies, so....

Just so you know, we do in fact have this technology, it is just really expensive and only a handful of doctors are willing to do it. But since the human genome has been completely mapped (we know where each gene that causes each feature is located), engineering what our children look like is 100% possible with the current technology.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you have a source on that? I'm almost certain that the technology is not very well developed yet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can second this. I read up on it once.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we do have the technology

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm sure the kid would actually be a lot happier if the parents manipulated their genes so that they would be really good-looking as opposed to ugly

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Have you GATTACA? Definitely a terrible idea.
