+286 You can't really make the blanket statement "Macs are better than PCs" when dozens of companies make PCs and only one company makes Macs. amirite?

i was talking of course about the operating system

That doesn't hold up. You can install Apple software on a PC and vice versa.

technically its illegal to hackintosh a pc even though its not enforced. and it can also be really hard and in mostinstances you have to use a pirated form of the os. i know because i have a hackintosh. the sound doesnt work so its a bit of a pain in the ass. and even if all that werent true it would still hold up because we were talking about 2 different things.

Eh, I like macs better because my windows always has "application not responding" or is just takes too long. My mac is a LOT faster than my dads new windows laptop. And my mac has slowed down a good amount after I started putting things on it. But it's still fast. In my opinion, Mac's are just more user friendly to me, I like the layout, the look, and it already comes with cool programs like Garageband. Plus imovie is really simple compared to windows movie maker imo.

Still, macs are wanted more, if not already owned, amirite?

Aren't Macs technically PCs?

The reason why only one company makes Macs is because Steve Jobs doesn't release the programming information.

If I could, I would have a PC to do all my school crap and UTAU work, and a Mac just to screw around on, because Garage Band is pretty darn amusing.

Only apple has the rights to the mac software and programming information. If they wanted to sell it, more companies could produce products using the apple code.

Macs are not "better" than pcs... period. If you're a musician, they're slightly more useful "out of the box" than a pc, but pcs are *definitely* better than macs for gamers. Especially for gamers that actually know how their computer is put together, because with a pc you can upgrade parts, like graphics cards, as they get better. Macs don't allow you to do that... at best, you could do a memory upgrade. As far as "fast" or "slow" goes... it's all about what you put into it and how well you take care of it. If you buy a high-end mac and a low-end pc, of course the mac will be faster... but if the two machines are equal in power(and there is a pc out there that is just as powerful as any mac) then they will be equally fast... any differences are purely caused by the user. It takes only a modicum of common sense to protect oneself from viruses, so that's not really a point in mac's favor... and macs are so goddamn ridiculously overpriced. That is what kills them; people realiz...

... realize that they can buy an equivalent pc for cheaper, and if you build your own? Pfft, I can build you a pc twice as good as any mac for the money the mac costs... *and* you won't have to buy a whole new machine everytime cpu cores double again; you can just upgrade parts. Long story short? Unless you're a professional musician, or have aspirations toward being one, it's a huge waste of money to buy a mac. You're just paying for a name.

I just wanted to stress, if you've seen the movie Pirates of Silicone Valley, you would see that since microsoft made the first language for computers, they were forced to sell their programing info/code thingmagigers because it would be seen as monopoly, which is illegal.

@420Grrl - (my phone can't reply) Macs are also hella useful for artists. Just having photoshop with one decently sized document would make my PC freeze up. Now, I have several large documents open in photoshop, and my Mac runs like a dream. To add to your statement, PCs are better for gamers and casual users, and Macs are better for professional/serious users. :)
