+933 The most overused teen movie cliche is when a girl falls for a jock, knowing full well an average kid likes her. Then the jock cheats/abuses etc. her and she realizes she really loves the average guy, amirite?

That was supposed to happen in Pretty in Pink, but Molly Ringwald didn't like that, and the director loved her so she always let her change things.

I wish she fell for Duckie. I loved him.

It's actually a sort of scaled-down and cliché version of what life in general is like for a lot of us... we go for superficial things like looks and popularity, or even an aura of danger, until we realize that those guys will always let us down in some way and start looking for things that are more important. It's funny how many movies and books even have the same theme, yet we girls don't really change much xD

And there always has to be a scene where the jock will come over to where the girl is sitting with the average guy and try to tell her to get away from him, but she'll reply with some snarky comment saying he's the loser. Then he'll looked surprise, scoff, and walk away. Then the girl and average guy kiss.

Orrr, where the teenage girl falls in love with the jock, knowing full well he has a bitchy cheerleader girlfriend, but he'll realise that shes the one for him and theyll fall in love, live happily ever after. the end.

This is the exact plot of Taylor Swift's "You Belong To Me" music video. Don't ask how I know this.
