+334 Opposing stem cell research: Because denying medical treatment to sick people isn't unethical, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most of the people who oppose stem cell research think that it all comes from aborted fetuses (which, I am pro-life.) They can get stem cells from umbilical cords.

And bone marrow and other sources. My question is how can someone be so strongly opinionated about something when they don't even know the basics about it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because Americans like to have hollow opinions and narrow minds.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm American and that is completley true. The whole Mosque thing is a good example :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Mosque? It's not even a Mosque. It's an Islam community center. It's not ON ground zero; it's a bit away from ground zero. I'm less proud to be an American than I would like to be sometimes.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah exaclty but I didn't know if people would know what I meant if I said Park 51 instead of Mosque. Even if it was a mosque I'd be fine with it because I'm smart enough to know the difference between those 19 hijackers and the 1.5 billion normal Muslims who try to live peacefully. Plus there are multiple strip clubs and bars and a gambling den within 2 blocks of ground zero so it's not like it's very sacred. And no one seems to give a damn about the Mosques in the Pentagon that were also attacked on 9/11.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The guy who is directing the project was involved in the 9/11 rescue team. People act as if the Mosque is a middle finger to America, but it's clearly not.

Honestly, things like this make me think that a voter competency test would be a good idea.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Probably not such a good idea, being that it runs the high possibility that it be made by a moron who believes that if Fox News says it, it's true.

I am also American... But only by birth. I hate how most form opinions based on the feelings of others and know nothing about the subject, have nothing to do with it, or just plain don't care and want to seem 'cultured' or smart. It irritates me. Especially this mosque thing. It's not even really a mosque or within eye sight of 'ground zero'. I don't understand the emotion people have for something so irrelevant. But, I digress. I will simply say this: if you are not directly affected by something, it's best to just leave it alone and save yourself the shame of being uneducated on the subject.

umm so whats all this about this morsque?...not trolling just didn't hear about it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

he seemed to "forget" to mention that it is being opened on september 11th

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You also seemed to "forget" that September 11th, according to some, is the end date for Ramadan this year.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

according to some. it makes absolutely no sense to open it then. it makes muslims look bad

by Anonymous 13 years ago

at the end of ramadan, muslims celebrate eid, a day of festivities and a time to get together with other muslims, specifically friends and family. of course it made sense to open it on that day so that as many muslims as possible could attend. furthermore, they have a special congregational prayer that they do on the morning of eid. obviously they'd want to have as many people as possible so they'd need a venue to accommodate it. it made sense to have a muslim center open on the day when muslim celebrate, not a week later or something

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Is it really worth it? This is making the religion of Islam look even worse than it already did.

POTENTIAL medical treatment

1. Most people don't oppose all stem cell research just embryonic stem cell research because killing human embryos is unnecessary when we get better results with cord blood and adult stem cells anyways 2. Make that two informed prolife people 3. How the heck did we get on the subject of the mosque?
