Why should we have to learn the math that our calculators are fully capable of doing, amirite?

In my AP Statistics class the calculator does all the work for you! :D

If you're still learning stuff that our calculator can do (i.e. multiplying), you need to finish 4th grade already.

I understand learning equations and whatnot, but not actually writing out the work.

All of the teachers know we won't multiply 432 by .02953 in our heads if given a calculator.

Building blocks. Eventually, you'll get to math that a calculator can not do, which will require you to understand what you did previously. And, a computer is only as smart as its user.

Exactly. In many college classes we don't even bother asking if we can use calculators on a test; It wouldn't even help anyway.

uh, this is a prime example of people being too dependent on technology. what if you didn't have a calculator available, or what if your calculator made an error on something important like your bills? you'd have to be able to double check things as well. not to mention there are levels of math that a calculator can't do.
