+293 The shoes shouldn't cost more than the whole outfit. amirite?

Aren't the shoes part of the outfit?

The most I've ever spent on shoes is R400 ( Like $40)

I think that depends on how often you wear those shoes and how expensive the outfit was. If I know a $40 pair of shoes would last way longer than something I buy at Payless, I will get the more expensive shoes. But then again, sometimes I get lucky at Payless and find a pair that lasts for years.

I spend $100-$120 on my shoes, but I only buy shoes once a year so I think it's worth it.

I spend $30-$40 on shoes and I only buy shoes once a year.

I splurged on expensive sneakers (like, $70) for jogging because I have like -10% bone density and my ankles rolled in cheap shoes, but other than that, the most I've spent is like $40 and they last a year or two depending on how much I wear them. That is a ridiculous and wasteful amount of money to spend on shoes.

Spending an extra $60 a year on something isn't a big deal, if you have a job you can make that in no time at all. Some people drop $60 a single meal going out to eat, is that better? I would just prefer to spend a little extra money to wear really nice shoes for an entire year than to eat a steak one night.

That's true, I'm just cheap and don't like to be wasteful. Also, I don't have a job, so I'd feel bad having my mom spend that much on me.

I see your point of view too, and a lot of people would agree with you (including my mom lol). The shoes I buy aren't necessarily more comfortable than a pair I could get for $40, they just look better in my opinion. So I'm spending an extra $60 for just looks.

I would rather buy more pricey shoes that will last for years than cheap shoes that fall apart after a few months.
