+243 It's really weird to see a teacher out of the school context, like in normal clothes at a grocery store/mall, amirite?

...your teachers don't wear "normal" clothes at school?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When I say "normal," I'm talking about jeans and t-shirts. I dunno where YOU go, but my teachers were always in skirts, dresses, slacks, and button-ups - shit nobody really wears unless at work.

You mean....they do that kind of stuff?

Wow, there are some teachers in the USA that dress decently at school?

I, along with other commenters on here apparently, have only seen American teachers dress as casually to school as they would to the super market.

*allowed It's not ignorant, it's not an insult, I didnt even state anything other than my personal experience. I'm just honestly surprised because I've been to multiple American schools in multiple states and every time I would see casually-dressed teachers.

Seeing only people over 200 lbs would be incredibly ridiculous and over exaggerated so no, it's not the same. I've never ever ever ever seen a teacher in America dress respectively unless for a special event so it's not ignorant. Just because I haven't seen something happen doesn't mean I can't be shocked to hear about it. It's not stereotyping anything, so it's not like the obesity thing. If I told you we have pink bears in Russia you would be surprised because you've only seen brown ones or polar bears. It's not ignorant to be surprised about finding out something. It's not like im trying to insist that "//no//, ALL teachers in America dress casually! I've seen it". I'm just surprised, Jesus.

I've known some teachers outside of school and they're like, "you can call me by my first name." But I just feel weird doing it.

"Oh my God it's Ms. Norbury!"

"I love seeing teachers outside of school. It's like seeing a dog walk on it's hind legs."

It's really awkward when you are at Target and then you realize the cashier you are in line for is your science teacher.

It's honestly not weird. A lot of the students at my school become close to the teachers. Not like, hanging with them after school but a lot of students get teachers emails and add them on Facebook after they graduate. They all dress the same out of school as in school and their first names are thrown between all the other teachers so much you figure them out in a year. I think the only time it was weird was when I saw three of them together in a La Senza looking at lacy bras.

Whenever this happened when I was little, I always used to freak out and hide behind the nearest clothing rack. Now, I just walk up to them and say, "Hey Ms. Milford! Are you looking at the high heels too?! What a coinkidink!" goo
