Same thing down in FL. I think we have problems spending the school budget on the east coast.

I'm in florida! *high five* Back in middle school, they cut chorus. The band teacher taught one small chorus class and had to get lyrics from online. He bought the music himself on itunes. It was pretty terrible...

Well, my school district just got new textbooks last year. But......we were already 12 million in debt, now we're 20 million, and they're cutting teachers and activities and raising sports fees and such because we apparently needed new textbooks when the old ones were just fine. People on school boards are clearly not all that bright. -.-

Well, we have free education. Some countries have barely any schools. I just finished reading three cups of tea for school. It helps me appriciate what I have.

NY here. Flame me all you want, but I don't get why he's cutting education and raising welfare. People need education so they don't end up on welfare... My darned school is fitting 65 middle/high schoolers on one bus, after changing the 3-tier system to a 2-tier system. They threatened to cut art, music, 15 teachers, and modified sports. Bitch. You all have jobs because of US. Their salaries should go down. Teachers that teach for only 3-4 hrs a day make $85,000 a year and SUCK, but my amazing teacher who puts in extra effort makes over $20,000 a year less. #rant

my superintendent makes 4 million dollars a year, and he approved the education budget cut. my mom (whos a councilwoman) looked him straight in the face and asked him how he slept at night knowing his salary was keeping some low income kids form playing sports or doing other activites, because to accommodate the new budget the principals have to charge a 50 dollar fee a participate, and go to dances that raise money for the school.

i know. and i dont know how he DOES sleep at night, since half his yearly salary was just cut from the school budget, and if he were to give up some of that to his town, kids wouldnt have to pay to get exercise and make friends. i mean, so many people live normal lives with a tiny fraction of what he makes.

Especially now. People are making so little money. And with everyone complaining about obesity, if a kid wants to do a sport, it should be free, or a very small cost [for uniforms or buses]

Hi, it's VA. I just started at a high school after being in a private school for the last 6 years. BIG change! My geometry textbook is practically falling apart, we fit at least seventy people onto the bus. People sat in the aisle to get more space. The lockers don't work, the computers are older than my 8-year-old brother, and the lunches are DISGUSTING!

i know, same here. people had to get denied access to the bus this morning because the last three stops were eaither sitting on laps or standing in isles, while the earlier stops were squeezing extra people into the seats. i felt like i was on a box car to Auschwitz, but with some seats.

My school only gives money to the landscape and the football team (which sucks) and there are not enough books, desks held togther with gum. Its stupid.
