-21 People who are obsessed with old bands like 'Queen' and 'Guns and Roses' are always blatantly ignorant towards new music, amirite?

Popular music of today sucks! I'll taking Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, and Guns'n'Roses over Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus any friggin' day!

(Ilessthanthreeu<3): You are exactly the person this post is talking about. I love old music, it's fantastic. But the problem is you don't really know modern music. Modern music isn't just Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. There are a lot of great bands making music right now that you're just ignoring.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Exactly. There is amazing music from every year and pretty much every genre. Open your mind people. You're missing out.

Nothing wrong with enjoying older music. :/

There's no problem with having fun with older music. I envy my parents, because now the only thing on the radio is "Tik Tok, Baby, or Imma be". Rap is ruining soceity because today's teenagers are trying to immitate what they hear. Personally, Rap can go die in a hole, Old School Rock, Country, etc. should live on.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I voted this down because some country can be just as disgusting as rap. Also, not all rap is disgusting. Try listening to some good stuff (I'm not a big fan, but there are some great songs).

I listen to way more old music then modern music as it was more original and interesting an less processed with auto tuning and such. Alternative music is all rather poppy these days and pop music is hiphop and hiphop is dance music.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I happen to enjoy both old music and new music equally. Yes some people of today dont have any actual talent but there are probably some of those people from back in the day as well, we just don't hear of them, like we won't hear of the bad people today. But people like Lady Gaga is the Queen or Madonna of our generation, so give it up people

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lady gaga the Queen of our generation BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

by Anonymous 13 years ago

disliking new music and being ignorant towards it are two totally different things

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love old music, but I'm not ignorant towards modern music. I just don't enjoy listening to it as much as older stuff.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I Love Old Music, But i Still Enjoy Listening To SOME Of Todays Modern Music. But Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus(...) I Don't See Them As Musicians.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yea, i love the oldies, but i love some of the newer bands.. i just cant stand screamo :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I confess I am completely ignorant of modern music, just as I am sure many(most) people are ignorant of jazz, baroque or atonal music. I don't think this in itself is a bad thing. What is bad is when ignorant people think and act like they are not; for example, many of the comments above.

I'm pretty much obsessed with the Beatles and the Who and I still listen to handful of recent musicians. Though I prefer older music, today's music CAN be alright.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The radio music is not the only modern music by the way. I love Indie, and most of it is fairly new. But none of it is on the radio, so eat it :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Popular modern music is just 1 melodic line repeating and a "catchy" beat with provocative words. It is barely music so I created a category for it. It is called "retarded music".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This sort of describes me... lol :P I listen to musicals, classic disney, the beatles, etc. and it takes me forever to hear really popular songs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

notice the post didnt say 'popular' new music. yeah, miley cyrus, justin bieber, etc suck, but there are some great current bands. i even got my brother, who used to listen exclusively to old music, really into a couple, like mgmt and mt st helens vietnam band. and of montreal is also very good :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I like older bands a lot more but some modern bands aren't too shabby.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Slipknot sucks Iron Maiden rules and Zeppelin Korn sucks Guns n' Roses sucks too

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm a Beatlefreak. And I love Lady Gaga. There's a counter argument right there. I enjoy newer music, but I like 60-90's stuff too. People who are close-minded to music are just daft.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You rock for being a beatlemaniac. YOU ROCK

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well thanks :) You rock for having that Username. For which I adore!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love classic rock (the eagles) but I still like most of today's music. Except I fucking hate Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, I prefer older music to the music of today. But i still have an open mind. I've got everything from Queen to Katy Perry on my ipod.

the problem is that the radio gives modern music a bad name cuz everything modern on the radio is shit. i dont hate music just for being modern but the music that is popular now is mainstream bullshit and thats what all modern music is associated with. most good bands of today are unknown. this coming from someone whos fav bands are led zeppelin, pink floyd, the beatles, black sabbath, dio, the who, the list goes on

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Listen to one song by the Eels and your opinion of new(ish) music will change for the better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I listen to Pink Floyd, CCR, The Beatles, Alabama, and various other stuff I grew up on and love. But I also listen to Adele, Sara Bareilles, Death Cab for Cutie, Mumford and Sons and a lot of other very new, very good music. I think it's silly to disregard music based on when it was made.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They just simply don't prefer it.

Good music stands the test of time. If young people know about music from Queen, the Beatles, and other great bands, it has withstood the test of time. Now they need to ask themselves if much of the modern day music will be remembered in 50 years.
