My math teacher in junior high had kids who got As on tests get the tests signed for extra credit, but didn't offer the same to kids who failed. "If you passed, show your parents and you'll pass with an even higher grade! If you failed, don't show your parents and I won't offer you any of the extra credit you really need!"
