+397 The person who named the fruit orange must have been a very boring, non-original person, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the fruit was named before the color.

Just in english though....

in every other language i've learned, the fruit and the color still share the same name

That may be true, but my 1st language (Afrikaans) our word for orange (lemoen) actually resembles lemon. And the direct translation of lemon would be 'sour orange'. Lol

Ooh, that's kinda harsh. Imagine what it would be like to be that guy that named food Friday, June 1, 0001 1:00 AM: Ooh, this is gonna be fun! It is up to me to name every last food. For the rest of humanity's existance, whenever someone picks up any food, they will think of what I named it! I can't wait to see what my mind comes up with! Um. Okay, this one's a papaya. This one's a kiwi. Wednesday, September 25, 0002 10:45 AM: Hmm, this is talking longer than I thought... Oh well. Blueberry. Coconut. Tuesday, May 17, 0005 4:30 PM: Geez, how much more of this do I have to do? Rice. Peanut. Lettuce Friday, November 6, 0009 9:50 PM: FUCK IT! FUCK ALL OF THIS! I'M DONE! " But, Bill, you still haven't named this one yet" YOU WANT A NAME?! ORANGE! IT'S A FUCKING ORANGE! HOW'S THAT? THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER?! FUCK YOU! I QUIT!
