+412 Its kinds sad that America isn't on the list for the top 10 cleanest and smartest countries, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just nuke New Jersey and we will be on the list.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i lol'd

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*Kinda

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sad, but not really suprising.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah. I'm American and I even agree to that. But I hate when the rest of the world thinks that everyone in America is stupid

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the facts don't lie.. they are

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If everyone in America was stupid, it wouldn't have the highest GDP of any country now would it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it's also has one of the largest populations... so generally more people, more money. Also if you were so smart, why is the government spending billions to help the economy? Why did you start the recession? and why are you in huge debt to China and the War.. Anyway the facts say that the United States are ranked tied for 10th in IQ ranking, tied but at like 30th.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all i would like to let you know I'm not American and I would prefer if you didn't use the word "you" to refer to Americans. China has 4 times more people than America but their nominal GDP is less than half of the US. The government is spending trillions because ignorant Americans have irresponsible used money. I didn't say everyone in America is so smart i said not everyone is an idiot.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

k, just figured you were American anyway, stereotypes don't apply to everyone just the average. And I believe the average american is an idiot

by Anonymous 13 years ago

First of all, your "more people, more money" notion is bullshit. Secondly, our government is spending money to stimulate the economy. If you have an alternative to this, please feel free to share. Thirdly, the entire world is in a economic downslide, not just the United States. Finally, the IQ test is extremely flawed and the difference between America's ranking and, say, fifth place is negligible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The United States are credited to being one of the first countries (if not the first) to start the recession. also there unemployment rate is growing, one of the highest since The Great Depression, and more people - more people being taxed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes, I am well aware that the United States is in a recession. And yes, I am well aware that our economy is a reason why the global economy has faltered. However, our federal government's failed economic policy does not correlate with the intelligence of citizens. Now tell me, oh wise one, since you balked at the notion of spending money to get America out of the current economic crisis, what do you propose we do? Lastly, here's the list of the top ten populated countries with their rank in nominal GDP in parentheses... 1. China (86) 2. India (123) 3. United States 6 4. Indonesia (105) 5. Brazil (50) 6. Pakistan (132) 7. Nigeria (128) 8. Bangladesh (146) 9. Russia (46) 10. Japan (14) So what's your argument that more people = more money? P.S Don't upvote your own comment. You know you did.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can honestly say I haven't because I don't take amirite or what you are going on all about over seriously, I'm saying that the number of people does affect the amount of GDP, but that is not the entire amount that makes up the total GDP. With a higher population, more people can work together, more work can be done, more people will pay taxes etc. and your numbers didn't look correct to me so I googled it myself, and it says Japan and China both have some of the highest GDP's after United States. Anyway, I'm looking at Wikipedia, how about you? I wouldn't know what to suggest to fix your recession, but in a country where you fling garbage at an oil leak, re-elect George Bush twice, etc. exactly what makes you think you are an intelligent country? Anyway, I'm done with this pity fight, I don't know what else to tell you man, whatever, also what country do you live in to believe you know so much about the country?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, the second I received the notification that you had replied I went to this post and your comment already had a +1, so I assumed you had done it. But, anyways... I am not talking about total GDP, I'm talking about nominal GDP or GDP per capita. Using these numbers nullifies population differences. My numbers are indeed correct... I used the 2009 World Bank rankings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(nominal)_per_capita) America is an intelligent, not the MOST intelligent, but intelligent nation. Really, the only statistics that can somewhat-accurately judge a country's intelligence are IQ tests. As this post points out, we are tied for 10th with several countries. The difference between our ranking and, say, 5th place, however, is negligible. You are showing your own personal intelligence by wrongly believing in the "America iz stoopid" stereotype.

We don't have any vote on what the Government does and does not do. Obama was voted by a bunch of stupid idiots, and dead people. (Yeah, that's what democrats do. One year 2000 dead people voted Dem, how? Cheats.) It's not the normal population that has but us so far in debt.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

k, first off. Governments have to run their laws across Congress (many people voted by Americans) and really? 2000 people makes up like nothing when it comes to voting for the president. like 0.001%

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Me too, but when I get mad about it I want to change that image by spreading knowledge and encouraging education. I wish more people who are smarter than average and academically inclined would stand up for learning and help the less fortunate... at least the ones who are willing to learn. It seems like some people would rather remain ignorant, but every country has those.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

this public service announcement was brought to you by The American Department of Education. We're for learning. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well it's sad for Americans..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

*It's kind of ..... And America isn't a country

by Anonymous 13 years ago

umm, yeah it is

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No it's not. America is a group of continents, it's not one country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

HAHAHA you're retarded! It's a group of states. It is the COUNTRY of America. United States of America. It's a country. Don't comment if you don't know what you're talking about!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

america: short for the united states of america. Seeing as it is the only country with the word 'america' in it, it's assumed that when you say america your are referring to the USA.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

America is not short for the United States of America and it would be shorter to write U.S.A or U.S.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You know what I mean. Stop being a jackass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

by Anonymous 13 years ago

can i see this list (link?) America(USA -__-) really shouldn't be on the list anyway we ignore our problems.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, it's really sad - especially as we all know that America is the best place on earth and everything.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

okay, just wondering, if you agree it's so sad why the heck did you vote it down...?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

pretty sure it's sarcasm, but I could be wrong. It's generally hard to get a point across over the internet.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah it was sarcastic....I'm welsh :) we need a sarcasm font or something :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah after reading it again I don't know why I didn't pick up on that... (I can't believe I'm That Guy...)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What's worse is some states are cutting education funds to pay for welfare funds, and people are ON welfare because they didn't/couldn't get an education. Some people are extremely stupid, and it makes smart people look bad. We do have so many intelligent people, but they're masked by the idiocy of others.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree completely, some people don't seem to get this concept through their skulls. Education is FREE, so why would you refuse it when it would bring down the rate of poverty in your country?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, I would say it's not on the list but it's more balanced than other countries. We may not be as smart, but we have more options in school (depending on the country you're comparing us to).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why is it sad? Is there a reason to that America should be on that list?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually I think we'll be okay@827713 (vitaminb): yeah, it's true. I think there are plenty of smart Americans... there just happen to be 10+ other countries even smarter. Great for them, I say...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because our country is falling apart. Seriously, I don't think we're going to last another 50 years at the most. The government does not have a single person willing to help the country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That says something, don't ya think. I mean, Rome fell...America is doomed to mirror that empire's decline sooner or later.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Why are these two voted down? It's true. Every country will fall. It's natural.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's not surprising. I've lived in America for my whole life and I've met many stupid people, but that does not mean everyone in America is stupid. There are stupid people everywhere. It boggles my mind to know that there are people out there who think that the average American is an idiot. That thought in itself is extremely stupid. I know for a fact that not everyone here is stupid. Most of the people I know are intelligent. Also, for all of you who are busting out the "If any of you in America are smart, why is your economy in the toilet?" not everyone has had an infulence on the economy. Most of us also do not have any power whatsoever to change it. Heck, I'm a teenager. The average teenager in America has had absolutley NOTHING to do with the present economy or leader of this country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I 100% agree. Sure, I don't like America much because of the way the government is run and the fact that there are a lot of stupid people, but the idea that America is stupid and all that is just a stereotype. You and I both (I'm assuming you're one of the smart few lol) are forced to be under that stereotype when we are the ones that contribute most to the smart side of the country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you! Everyone keeps commenting on here about how stupid we are, yet most of them don't know a good group of Americans to base their idea off of. Most people I've met have been intelligent (granted, I've been going to magnet schools since elementary school, but I still don't meet a ton of stupid people), and yes, there are idiots, but it's obnoxious being generalized with our stupid politicians (i.e. George Bush).
