+407 "For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country." Well, Mrs. Obama, I, for one, have ALWAYS been proud of my country. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There have been many times to not have been proud of our country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I am almost never proud of my country

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I definitely love living here, but there have certainly been times I wasn't proud of my country.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's sad how dead patriotism is these days.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Loving your country doesn't mean you have to love everything about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I never said it did. But these days, it seems that all people do is complain about our nation. I, for one, am damn proud to be an American. It's just sad that more people aren't.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The way I see it, people wouldn't complain if they didn't love their country. When people stop talking, then I'll be worried because it'll mean that no one cares. I don't think people should complain if they're not willing to do anything about the situation, but overall it's a good thing.

Better than being someone like Rupert Brooke.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've been ashamed of my country a few times. Doesn't mean I wasn't proud at ALL, just that we all doubt our country. EVERY government system in the world deals with problems, and some people lose hope. Mrs. Obama was saying she was never proud, until her husband got elected.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We've also done a lot of great things as a country. And ironically, both sides are trying to do what's right, it's just what they consider to be right that differs. I for one am proud of that, And maybe if we as a country and as individuals would quit whining about what's wrong and trying to do what's right the world would be a better place.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As a general rule, I don't set much store in single sentences quoted without context. Anyhow, I haven't been too proud of America lately because of all the anti-Islamic stuff going on. The last month or so has really shown how most Americans are ignorant about even basic things, but they still have strong opinions. That's a bad combination.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

We've had our ups and downs. I can't say I take pride in the fact that most people view Americans as stupid, because I'm not a stupid person. I'm not proud of our history of slavery and various other acts of idiocy. However, if I had to choose between a place like North Korea and the US... I think I'd pick the US. People tend to take the many luxuries Americans get for granted.

It's REALLY hard to be proud of a country that has ANY single individual that would follow and vote for the Tea Party. What's worse, they're actually winning where I am -_-

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ouch :/ I'm sorry to hear that. Where are you from? They seem to be everywhere these days. Like cockroaches.....It's so funny, people tend to compare Obama to Hitler because of his public speaking capabilities, but it's these TP nuts who are going around trying to teach people to blindly follow an extremist uprising out of contempt for their own government.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Do you live in Delaware? We just got Christine O'Donnell, I am so pissed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@575358 (Previously_Sane): Oh, sorry, anon, I replied to you, but it didn't stay for some reason. No, I don't live in Delaware. I live in the South, so we're pretty much a bunch of Conservative nutjobs. I think we're about to get a Tea Party governor, so won't that be great... I'm from the North, though, so I'm a free thinker.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh I'm sorry to hear that...I'm very thankful now that I live in Boston. I really don't have anything against Conservatives at all. Everyone has a right to their own opinions, as long as they are well-informed, and can back up their ideas with logic. The thing that bothers me is that a lot of them (especially in the South) are so narrow minded that they refuse to listen to anyone else's point of view, automatically think they're superior, and try to force their beliefs on others. They can't sit down and have an intelligent debate about politics, so instead they say rude, hateful things about our President and all Liberals.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, when Democrats have their groups and anti-Bush things, it's normal. They can speak up. But when Tea partiers fight for their freedoms, it's crazy?? I'm all for people having their own views, but hypocrisy bothers me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

honestly shut the fuck up. Half of you guys could give a DAMN about politics until Obama came into office.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not to mention it was just a statement, misinterpret the wrong way. So go do something with your life rather then stay study everything they say....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Honestly I am tired of the Obama Bashing because NO ONE gave bush shit for getting us in this economic position. Bush was in office for 8 fucking years. And everyone expects Obama to fix it in a few months....Did ANYWAY jump on Bush's dick whenever he said something wrong NO! So I would just stay the fuck out of it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

THANK YOU! Seriously! I totally agree!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Kind of a generalized statement, don't you think? Plenty of people gave Bush shit, it just wasn't in the media.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

finally, someone who has enough intellegence to see all of that and put it into words. Thank you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, I'm sorry, but Bush got tons of ridicule as president. People were constantly bashing on him for what he was doing, and what he was saying. So, YES, both the media and everyday citizens were making fun of Bush as well. There will always be people who don't like the president. It's a fact of life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Baha. Bush was (and still is) the butt of all jokes! He was blamed for 9/11!! Obama isn't the 2nd coming of Christ. He is an awful president who promises so much and didn't do shit to follow through on them. This posts says his wife is an unpatriotic bitch who cares more about herself than the damn coutry.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's just like I'm being realistic...I don't like to jump to racist at all BUT, it's funny that EVERYONE decided to be all intretsed in politics and even if that I would respect your opinions if they actually make sense...a dumb quote like that makes no sense...Like wtf? How does that effect or rescission right now WHAT DOES THAT DO?! nothing you just sound dumb. And if you want to play the "quote" game prepared to get slaughtered by Bush Nonsense!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People this doesn't really need context... it's obvious what she saying, and I'm pretty sure it's quoted correctly. However, she said a lot of stupid things during the election, so maybe she just can't speak well and didn't mean it. That's what I'm guessing. Besides, neither way would anyone have been happy no matter who got elected, it's just a bad time. Neither one would have been instant sucess at this whole, "fix everything...thing". Although Obama got crazy ratings eraly on. Now I'm rambling...ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Yeah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

agreeddddd^

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As my dear mother says: "Michelle Obama is a nasty horse-faced bitch."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I have always been proud and honored to be an American, but I have had times when I was sad about situations or conflicts with America. Everyone in America should have some pride, in mynopinion, because we are citizens of a free country full of opprotunites! We don't have to live with no tecnology or in the jungle/wilderness or deal with sanitary or sickness issues. America is amazing and something to be proud of. Every country has flaws though, just don't let them convince you to lose pride.
