+353 Song lyrics have an awful lot less meaning these days. One could make millions for singing what's on the Denny's menu if the beat is catchy enough, amirite?

You mean just like the lyrics have always been in music since the 50's?

I kind of like the fact that I can find songs about gay deer and online sex toy shops. Sometimes I don't want to hear a throaty woman sing about how much she hates her ex-husband.

I think this is nostalgia. I mean, my "Greatest Oldies Hits" CD has songs with classic lyrics such as: Gimme dat ting, gimme dat, gimme gimme dat, gimme dat ting, gimme dat Lollipop lollipop, ooh lolly lolly lolly lolly pop Mah na mah na, doo doo doo doo doo, mah na mah na, doo doo doo doo I'm Henry VIII, I am, Henry VIII, I am, I am Knick knack paddy whack now we're standing back to back, 1 2 3 bump, 1 2 3 bump. ... Yes. All very meaningful, aren't they? (And yes, these are all songs that were at least popular enough to still be sold on CDs 40+ years later). Not saying today's song lyrics are great, I'm just saying song lyrics are all 90% pretty much terrible. It's just MOST of the old terrible ones have been forgotten over the years - even so, as shown above, some still remain!
