I agree 110% with OP. I wonder if there are just a lot of shy people, or if I am the smartest one in the class? LOL

As a kid who's not all that quiet, I do this. Except in my Spanish class, I just blurt out the answer there, and then my teacher gets mad at me for not raising my hand.

If you're getting anoyed, maybe you should speak up and say the answer. Otherwise, don't get annoyed.

I get annoyed with that too! Especially when the person who gets the credit gets some like treat or something.
