+217 There's 3 ways authors deal with a situation too dangerous for people not to die. 1) Somehow everyone survives miraculously. 2) A new person was introduced 5 pages ago so they can die with anyone caring too much. 3) The author just kills off all of your favorite characters. All 3 are really annoying, amirite?

#1 is usually expected so I'll just be like "Of course..." And, I don't mind #2 cause it doesn't entirely ruin the story for me. But, #3 //seriously// pisses me off.

#3 - Mockingjay :(

#3 = Game of Thrones

I thought the Golden Compass was sort of an exception. A main side character (if that even makes sense) that is introduced at the beginning dies at the end. The situation is believable, there's no throwaway characters, but nobody TOO important has to die.

#3- Harry Potter. I mean seriously,Sirius, Dumbledore, Hedwig, Dobby, Lupin, Tonks, Snape, Colin, and Fred?

Part of the emotional roller coaster that is Harry Potter.

Yep. I cried when I read the books and watched the movie, but I also laughed in between those tears.

When I went to the mid-night premiere of HP Deathly Hallows Part 2, my sister's friend started to laugh and said LOL at Dobby's grave in the beginning.

How dare she! Anyway, I was just sad when Dobby died. I only cried when Sirius died in the book and then when Lupin, Tonks, and Fred died in both the movie and the book. The others on that list I was just very sad about.

It was so sad in the movie with Fred and Lupin and Tonks laid out. My friend and I were drowning in tears.

I know. I was at the midnight premier with my sister and pretty much our whole theater was bawling.

It was great being surrounded by people who were just as crazy about Harry Potter as you are.

Or #4: The Gandalf: You think that someone important died and you get really sad, and then later you find out that they didn't actually die.
