True, but if you don't offer up a good representative sample then you can't really expect people to want to take a look at the rest of your work.

True, I agree with that. But generalizing someone's entire collection of music as 'synthesized' crap' isn't correct at all if you look at some of her other work. And with the songs that succeeded on The Fame, Gaga just produced more music like that (along with other songs that is nothing like Just Dance or Poker Face) in order to continue being heard. It's not like she can force the radio to play songs she hand picks, either. :/

I don't know, I've had a listen to most of her stuff and they all seem pretty synthesized to me. Nothing in there that really felt timeless, but then again that's a lot to expect out of any artist. Still, I just don't connect with her music at all. Just my personal opinion.

Personally, I really think Speechless is so different from all of her other pieces. But she writes all her songs with a purpose, and for her own personal reasons and not monetary gain which I really respect. I also really like that she writes her own songs, too. I mean, that's how she got established in the industry: writing songs. It's just that someone finally saw she had talent beyond that and gave her an opportunity. I can see why you don't really connect with her songs; our musical tastes differ a lot. Don't get me wrong, I don't listen to things that sound like Lady Gaga majority of the time. In fact, she's the only person on my iTunes that has that kind of sound. My musical taste is just really weird. :x But to each their own! :D

To be honest, I don't get why everyone likes her lyrics so much. I mean kudos to her for writing them herself, but most high school freshmen could probably write something just as interesting. Most of her songs sound like something from the lamest drudges of DeviantArt's poetry section. It's kind of hard to connect with overdone clichés recited over a basic four chord progression. But alas, to each his own. :P

Personally, I just like that her lyrics tell her story and unfold different aspects of her life, but through a song. I really didn't like most of The Fame, to be honest. Some of it is okay, but it's just meh in general. I liked The Fame Monster because I think it was more about her and her life and how fame has changed her life, while still maintaining the sound that got her to where she is today. I can't read music and I don't know much about the ability to do it, so my opinion on music is really basic. I like what I think sounds good, not what's cliché or simple. I'm just happy I've finally had a discussion about Lady Gaga with someone who didn't rip out my vocal chords through my ass because I think she's not horrible. xD

Haha. I don't think she's horrible, I just trying to figure out why people love her so much when Gwen Stefani (and countless others, but she's the first to come to mind) kind of did this whole thing a few years ago but with catchier songs. :P
