+84 You say there's no instruction manual for life, but what about the Bible? The Torah? Hell, why not even the Qur'an? Just stop ad-libbing life and making excuses, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No manual? What about twilight?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because that's what life is. There's no book out there that tells you exactly what to do in life, which is generally what an instruction manual does. How do you NOT ad-lib life? You can't write what you're going to do and expect it to all turn out the way you want. It doesn't work like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

All of those are a collection of stories, not set instructions on how to live your life. If we did have an instruction manual we would all be exactly the same and do exactly the same things. Plus i've never heard anyone complain about not having an instruction manual for life. Even if there was one it wouldn't matter, because we all know nobody actually reads the instruction manuals.

You're right, we shouldn't be allowed to eat shellfish or get haircuts or wear clothes with blended fabrics. That's in the bible, don't give me that new testemant bullshit unless ALL of the old testament is thrown out. Yes, that does include genesis, Jewish exodus, Romans, etc.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thank you! I don't get why this isn't brought up in more religious debates about the Bible and more specifically, gay rights. There are so many laws in the Old Testament that are outdated, like the haircuts and shellfish. Why do most people focus on just the ones against homosexuality? Why don't they go protest at Red Lobster and barbershops as well?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Cause nobody cares about that.. duh

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Romans is in the New Testament. Just by the way.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oopsie, my bad.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Kill people who don't listen to priests, kill witches, kill homosexuals, kill fortunetellers, kill children who hit or curse at their parents, kill adulterers, kill followers of other religions, kill nonbelievers, kill false prophets, kill the entire town if one person believes in another god, kill women who are not virgins on their wedding night, kill people for working on the Sabbath, kill sons of sinners. Great advice, Jesus!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay, I don't know about the other religions, but in the Catholic religion, we believe about killing NO one. So get your facts straight.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Read the bible.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol he wasn't saying that ~Christians (or Catholics) believed~ those things were 'okay'. He was simply mentioning all things that the Bible says is acceptable behavior. He was being satirical.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see, haha. But Jesus wasn't doing the killing hahaha.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, but the "perfect" being you worship condoned it and even exterminated lives himself. Jesus also allowed slavery, genocide, and the oppression of women. And although this information is available to you and anyone and is spelled out very clearly in the Bible, inb4 oblivious statements or distortions to sugarcoat and cover up it's many atrocities.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Typical Christian, demanding I stay straight... But srsly, everything I said is in the Bible. Would you like the actual verses?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey! You don't kill disobedient kids, you cut off the part that disobeyed you! Get your facts straight.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Too bad he didnt say kill them. Good job!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If this is true then why aren't the people who live by these books at a huge advantage to everyone else in life?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

because these books are manuals to live by in this life so that you can have an advantage over those who did not follow them in the next.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not to have an advantage, it's how to live a nice life. Being repectful to others, cherishing everything you have, loving everyone, it's a guide how to live a good life. Whether everyone who says their apart of the religion doesn't do all of it, such as loving everyone, doesn't mean the rest of us who do, do it aren't experiencing a pretty decent happy life.

@theserb: exactly. truuninja, look at my comment below. Actually, you down voted it. I'm curious as to why.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

because I have my own imaginary friend

Book of Satan?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The point of this wasn't to support Christianity, which seems to be the main target, even though I did mention the Torah and the Qur'an (refer to this post: http://amirite.net/536759). The point is that many people keep asking "I don't know the right thing to do! Where is the instruction manual in life??" And I can simple respond, pick a damn religion. They're the epitome of" instruction manuals in life".

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I downvoted this comment because I have never in my life met anyone who has complained that life doesn't have an instruction manual.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then you aren't facebook friends with enough emotional girls :p

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well no, and with good reason.
