+339 If you compare the age of the universe to one day, and if it was now 11:59 p.m., then Earth was formed at around 4 P.M. and people showed up 28 seconds ago, amirite?

did you see this on a Nova?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well, actully a good friend of mine was telling me this and trying to explain this concept to me and I'm not really sure where he got it from. Maybe he thought of it or got it from Nova. The truth is I've never heard of Nova before... i just thought it was a cool saying. :P

Grow a brain! The universe is only 6-10 thousand years old!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Please understand the *IF* in the statement.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Think about THAT!!): I know, but you still are implying that the universe is billions of years old.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If anyone else had said that, people would be up voting it as a funny joke. Sadly, you are being serious.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But it is true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

okay, the first person was serious, but you're just a troll.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is so mind blowing that I didn't understand it.... :P

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i dont get it either

@838954 (PleaseDontBeWrong): It's basically a comparison that shows how young mankind actually is. If the entire history of the universe was compacted into a day, the big bang would be at 12:00:01 am, the earth would form at around 4pm and the first human would be born at 11:5959pm (the OP said we would be 28 seconds old, but that's wrong).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ooooooooooh. thank you for explaining it to us meager minded folks

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The OP is implying that we were born 28 seconds AFTER the earth was created, so around 04:00:28 PM

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, because that would mean that humans were around billions of years ago. The estimates for the first humans vary from 500,000-150,000 years ago. Either way, that's 11:59:59pm.

Just type in 'the atheist's puzzle' on youtube. a guy named alex day (nerimon is his username) did a video explaining this and he's actually really funny :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love the ending of that video.

He's the one that reads twilight! :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love him!! And Charlie, who is more attractive.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Amish_Allosaurus is the reason I love this site so much. His comments are funnier than everyother post combined

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thank you.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

...I don't think you know what that means.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, I get it, you were saying I'm funny because I'm stupid.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually it's, if the universe was spanned into a year, the earth was made on new years eve, and humans cam along in the last hour.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

God created the universe and on the sixth day created mankind. The universe(or earth) is not billions of years old.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

All evidence points to the earth, and thus the universe being billions of years old. NOT thousands. The fossils on the earth outdate the 6,000-10,000 year estimate on when God created the Earth. And the Earth is nowhere near the oldest celestial body in the galaxy, much less the universe.
